SLC Dunk Fantasy League: Draft Recap
The SLC Dunk fantasy draft went off without a hitch. Present and live were myself, BBJ, UtesFan89, clarkpojo, moni, patrick517, DaniellelovesKK, CrazyJDeight, and MTN. CallMeSenorFresh autopicked.
Highlights from the draft chat:
Everyone giving the commissioner (me) crap for lucking into the first pick, then giving me MORE crap for taking Chris Paul as the first pick. (Look, just because his numbers are better doesn't mean I think he's a better player. Bah.)
Everyone doing everything in their power to prevent Danielle from taking Kyle Korver with her first overall pick. She did anyway. Then we told her to take Chris Bosh in the second round. She took Ronnie Brewer. Let's just say Danielle's draft strategy was focused on Jazzmen and hotties.
LOTS of people thieving picks, right before someone else could take them. I had Jason Thompson right in my queue, and UtesFan89 beat me to him.
A general consensus that anyone who takes a Nugget has sold their soul. (Then I panicked and took Kenyon Martin. Oops.)
UtesFan89 trying to pick John Salmons and getting Francisco Garcia instead.
Clarkpojo picking players based on the hotness of their wives/girlfriends.
UtesFan89 mentioning that Al Thornton was still available, and Clarkpojo promptly picking him, drawing the ire of Moni.
Your Mr. Irrelevant (last pick of the draft): Adam Morrison.
I'd have posted the transcript of the entire chat, but it wouldn't let itself be copied and pasted. But a good time was had by all. And a better time will be had when league play starts tomorrow. Thanks to everyone who participated.
All comments are the opinion of the commenter and not necessarily that of SLC Dunk or SB Nation.

Thanks Shums
I don’t know why it wouldn’t let the whole chat be selected. You could do individual comments, but not the whole thing? Stupid javascript and flash.

Hey hey...
I didn’t give you crap about taking Paul. (That’d be kinda dumb, because I took Paul in a similar situation earlier this year).

hey folks
sorry i had to auto draft. I had some prior obligations, but i did pre-rank my players. I see i ended up with Kobe, god i cant stand that racist. That said, no im not dropping/trading him. haha. Well, seems like an interesting group of people/teams. Should make for an awesome year for me, the Jazz and my fantasy team both coming out on top! niiiicee.

not a dumb question :)
You’ll get the hang of it as the season goes.
Here’s what you need to do: get to the league home page, then click “my team.” In there, it will look like you have no players. But click where it says “Mon, Nov. 3” instead of “Sun, Nov. 2.” Now you should see all the players you drafted. It should also say whether they have games that day or not. If they do, it will say who they are playing and when. If they don’t, it will be blank.
The idea is, not every team plays on every night. Since your players all play for different teams, this means that on some nights your players won’t have a game. It also means that sometimes, your starters won’t have a game, but your bench players do. So you need to switch out the players who don’t have games, and move them to the bench. Then switch in the players that do have games.
You’ll need to do this at some point every day, for the rest of the season. This way, you get the most out of your team. Because if one of your players has a really good game, but they were on the bench (the BN section), you will NOT get credit for it.
As I said, you’ll get the hang of it. All it really takes is making sure you look at your team at least once a day to make sure you’re starting your best players who actually have games that night.
I'll make it.

And it's best to look in the morning or the previous night
because occasionally there will be the random day games (mostly on weekends, but yeah).

Pretty sure Yahoo also lets you sort out the schedule a few days in advance
I’m not one to check my fantasy leagues every day, and that’s what I did in mine last year.
