Portland Trail Blazers @ Utah Jazz - Game Thread -
Portland Trail Blazers at Utah Jazz, Nov 5, 2008 7:00 PM MST
In our first real test of the year, the upstart Blazers come to town. Not much time to get up a decent preview for this one. So make sure to check out the preview from Blazer's Edge and clarkpojo's.
While this one will be at the ESA, the TBs are a much better team than ones we've faced so far. We can't afford a slow start, although I don't expect one.
The biggest key to winning this game will be making a three point shot. Sloan is going to start killing homeless guys again if the Jazz don't start making them. It will be crucial to spread the floor.
We'll be sure to get a lot of BE readers here, so make sure to visit and defend the Jazz where necessary.
And no shock with Deron still out.

those who have watched games so far...
i’ve only been able to watch one (badly streamed) game so far, so i’m wondering how boozer has been looking on D? improved? making more of an effort? same as last year? cares less than last year?
Ronnie P
looks like he’s trying a bit too hard again. I wonder if starting isn’t the best thing for him mentally.
I'll make it.
I'm leaning towards agreeing
of course, I’m missing this game (for now) because Bones is on.
And truthfully, Bones (or House or Chuck or Big Bang Theory) >>>>>> David Stern’s league.
Sorry, just a personal thought there.
Can I say what a difference it has been having Knight
V Hart? I know improving on Hart isn’t much, but BK has brought some shooting as well (which he hasn’t been known for).
Average will catch up to Portland
You can’t be hot from 3 for an entire night. If that’s all that’s keeping them in it, we’ll be fine.
Leave the ball, will you George?
um, yeah, you can be
Teams ALWAYS seem to get hot from 3 for entire nights against us. Happened all the time last year, especially in the playoffs. I often try to convince myself of the same thing, that eventually that hot shooting will regress to the mean, but it just doesn’t on some nights. Alas.
I'll make it.
It did in the preseason
against the same team. FWIW.
But yeah… the law of averages says that you can’t… previous experience suggests otherwise.
Let's revisit this after the 4thQ to see.
Maybe I’m too optimistic.

I know.
Not this season, just the last couple of seasons have really ruined the NBA. And it’s not like it’s getting better or anything. At least not yet (I’m still hopeful that it’s different this season).
It's way better than Shaq's heydey
I hated the Shaq era. The Pistons brought back team basketball and it’s been fun to watch the Jazz, Suns, Spurs, Hornets, C’s, etc. having success with something Dr. Naismith would recognize as basketball.

Drive and kick is the new jazz kryptonite
Sloan has preached help D for so long, and now our help is getting exploited.
Pants Off, Game On!
Almost 16 minutes
2-5 shooting, 3 fouls, 1 assist, 4 points.
In other words… just like he has every other game this season.
The CJ Miles experiment
IS OVER. I really really tried to like him. He showed signs of life, but he has been nothing short of terrible so far this season.
But AK looks good
And that was the point of starting CJ, right? Could CJ get those numbers off the bench this year? Could AK get his touches starting? I’m pleased with the lineup.

Agreed
but CJ has to step it up. Or maybe we have to start Korver or (J-Slo will kill me for saying this) Morris Almond.
I just hate
the 1-trick ponies, ONLY 3s (aka Mike Miller)
Yeah
He’s seems like to nice of a guy to hate. Plus he hasn’t done anything against the Jazz yet. Fern. seems like a fancy pants snotty player.

When? Am I just missing it?
Oh, and just wondering… when’s the move?
Can I ask that, or do we have to disregard this message and blow it up now?
it was in a comment
the move is imminent, not long now
How would things change
if we flipped Price & Knight? Providing, of course, that Deron isn’t back after the game.
Al Jefferson
30 & 14.
And Scrum’s favorite Miller is 5-7 from downtown. (So obviously they go to Foye when they need a 3.)
sorry guys
30 seconds behind on League Pass Broadband
Trying waaaaay to hard.
He’s not that bad.

he used to be
our clutch 3 point man, I think he’s 0-8 this year
