Your poll

doesn’t have an “draft other” option.
I’m still holding out hope for Anderson. Or maybe a trade of Hart, Flop & No Knees, allowing the drafting of CDR or Courtney Lee (or Brandon Rush if he slips).
Or a trade up to get a wing or a big, using the #23 pick, 1 of the 2 second rounders, and the above 3 as trade bait.

The Utah Jazz. The Jazz... duh.

Fixed now.

Don’t know why I didn’t add that.

Jefferson to the Bucks

For Yi and Simmons. Wow. The telling part is this tidbit,

Such a swap would create an estimated $10-plus million in long-term savings for the Nets

They need that money for LeBron in a couple years.

by Basketball John on Jun 26, 2008 1:39 PM MDT reply actions   0 recs

Clips & Sonics...

if Mayo goes #3, they’ll swap picks (future pick to Sonics as well, I think).
Clips could target Westbrook or Gordon at #4
Sonics will take Brook Lopez or Jerryd Bayless at #7.

The Spurs sent an e-mail to every team in the league at 3:30 p.m. saying that they were willing to move the 26th pick. The e-mail asked league executives to “E-mail us your interest and your offers to 26.”

That’s the first time I’ve heard of something like this in all of my years covering the draft. Make your Spurs pitch below in our comments section.

Westbrook #4 to the Sonics.

Total reach. He jumped from mid-20’s to #4 in a week. All because of the play of Rajon Rondo.

Only difference… Rondo went in the 20’s.
He could be a solid player. But the expectations at #4 will be huge.

He was up there before Rondo played well

It’s still a bit of a reach, but he’s at least as good as the other guards available.

honestly?

With Darrell Arthur right there? Why take Koufos? We already have him—his name is Mehmet Okur. Is Koufos really gonna take minutes from Memo, Fes or Collins? Really? Bah.

I'll make it.

by Shums on Jun 26, 2008 7:46 PM MDT up reply actions   0 recs

Koufos

will help spread the floor for Booze. He’ll take minutes from Flop.

As for Arthur… same spot as Booze & ‘Sap.
Plus he only got 4 rpg in 25 mpg in college (last year maybe), and rarely got to the line.

Two stash guys

because there’s no room on the roster. I don’t know much about the 3rd guy, but Tomic could be a nice project.
And, as I’ve said, I’m one of the few fans that really likes the drafting of Koufos.

My only complaints…
1- The team didn’t package their two 2nd rounders (and Hart, No Knees and Flop) to move up and get CDR.
2- Hart, No Knees & Flop are still on the team. But that was expected and just wishful thinking on my part…

I think

I feel okay about this. Koufos is either a poor man’s Memo, or at worst, a better-shooting Jarron Collins. Hey, six more fouls are good, right? I just sincerely hope this means that the Jazz organization has faith that Fesenko can step in and fill a role. Surely Fes should get minutes before Koufos. I just really want the big guy to get a real chance before we go looking elsewhere.

I'll make it.

by Shums on Jun 26, 2008 11:35 PM MDT reply actions   0 recs

Koufos should be good

He was projected as a top-10 pick in next year’s draft, so some people obviously feel he has potential.

by SuperBruinMan on Jun 27, 2008 4:26 AM MDT up reply actions   0 recs

I'm excited

He’s only 19 and is still developing.

Strengths: To prepare for Ohio State, Koufos has developed a more aggressive style of play. He now has the ability to bang down low that he has somewhat lacked in the past. While being known as a player who is best when working in the high post from either elbow, he has displayed a solid game from the baseline recently, where he can turn over either shoulder to hit the baseline jumper. He has added a behind the back dribble move to his repertoire that isn’t fully reliable yet, but will make him a little more dangerous when working from the top of the key nonetheless. His leadership has developed more and he is a reliable go to guy offensively in the post. Defensively, his post position is very good, so he shouldn’t have too many problems with man-to-man defense at the next level.

Weaknesses: Koufos must get better at finishing at the rim after contact. He has great touch around the basket, but when he takes contact, his shot doesn’t often find the basket. His timing is good on blocked shots, but don’t expect him to be much of an intimidator with this skill in the NBA due to average to just above average athleticism. While his midrange shooting is excellent, he could stand to extend his range a little bit. If he could consistently hit the college three it would be an excellent weapon for him and his team.

From NBAdraft.net

He might not be (insert your favorite superstar defensive C here), but he’ll be fine. Him & Fesenko give us 2 different options behind Okur… use whichever one is more of a need in a particular game.

Now we just need Sloan to
1- willingly use youngsters. If he doesn’t, the team is the same as last year, and that’s not good enough to beat the Lakers (or Blazers even), as we’ve seen (and if it was the refs fault… they’ll do the same thing next year too).
2- give up on Hart. And Flop. And Harping. They aren’t helping. Harpring gets way too many minutes. Oh, and he needs to stop using Korver at the 2-spot. That doesn’t work (see Vujacic, Sasha). Of course, Sloan is brain-dead…
