Rocky Mountain Revue Game Thread - Dallas @ Utah

We wrap up the Revue against the Mavs from Dallas.  After the end of the Revue we usually have quite a bit of time off until the start of training camp and the pre-season.

Luckily we have the Olympics this year and we have Booze & Williams to watch for.

Just checking in from the Revue

Just arrived. I don’t think there are even players here yet. They’re going to have CJ on the phone for the press in a bit. So I’ll let you know what’s going on there.

I’ll be posting a half-time update. This is the only game today and the last basketball we’ll see for a bit. Well, I guess until tonight when the Olympic team takes on our northern brothers.

So this is might be a little too late, but I’ll cram all the stuff I can in tonight.

If the RMR squad shows anything...

either the Jazz scouts really suck at finding talent,
or the coaches (Corbin, Layden) suck at getting the guys to play together.

I mean… this (as a whole) as been a very ugly RMR for the Jazz.
Some good players… but 3 are on the Jazz (Almond, Fesenko & Koufos). Add Brazelton in as impressive, and Lyde. No one else really.

The Utah Jazz. The Jazz... duh.
The best NBA team in Utah... no doubts about it!
Playing For Pride. Pirates, Utes, Panthers, and more...
Because, in the end, only one team can "win it all".

A lot of it I think is just trying to fill out the roster and have enough guys to play.

But you’re right, outside of the regulars, there hasn’t been anyone else that’s stepped up like last year’s Revue.

Halftime Notes

Everyone on both teams are looking for their shot. I guess they figure it’s the last game and nothing to lose.

Despite what the great post by kris247 reads (I know it was in jest), Kosta isn’t a stiff. He’s got some athleticism and went up for an oop. I don’t think any of the other players on that list could do that.

Almond is playing pretty good D on Green.

I thought I had a Michael Finley sighting. But it was Paul Millsap’s uncle (his agent).

Brazelton was taken to the locker room for a bit and Lyde was hurt. Maybe CJ did the right thing by not playing. A lot of injuries in this Revue.

Fess didn’t start. And when he was put in, he had his navy jersey on instead of his white.

Fess looks like he doesn’t have any confidence. Doesn’t seem to be here mentally. And he got dunked on hard.

The Mavs are beating the Jazz with their athleticism. The Jazz don’t have anyone that’s physical to counter that.

With the Jazz down 41-23 with 1:15 to go in the half, Layden told them to try to cut the lead to 10. That’s a lot of optimism.

Nothing falling for the Jazz tonight.

More tonight.

I'm out

I got some good audio and some pics. I didn’t get Fess’ slam at the end as I was preparing to head to the locker room. Too bad. I’ll get some things later on tonight.

Interesting...

The Jazz must be wondering what they were thinking when they drafted Fesenko. Granted the big mans a big body, but he’s a tool. I hope he can grow up and be the player the Jazz need him to be. I’m also hoping Kufos isn’t another slow, big white guy the Jazz wasted a high draft pick on. Only time will tell but I’m very skeptical about both of the big guys and how they performed, especially Fesenko.

Fess was interesting

If he was playing for a contract, he probably wouldn’t have been signed. He’s obviously tall which will get him a lot of looks. I don’t know why he had such a poor Revue. I don’t know if it was pressure to do well or if he felt rejected when the Jazz drafted Koufos or what. He’ll have to have an incredible training camp to get PT. It will probably be another year of D-League.
