Watch out for the next time the Heat and Jazz play. Asked about the trade rumors involving him and Miami, Carlos Boozer said, "I live in Miami during the offseason. Obviously, they have a huge hole at power forward. I’m very good friends with [Heat owner] Micky Arison. So, the rumors are going to fly. We’ll worry about those later." Huge hole at power forward? Mike Beasley probably laughs that one off, but Udonis Haslem might have a little elbow grease in store for Boozer.

Just trade him already...

He’s a two faced punk. He’ll make comments and wink at the Utah media when it serves him and he’ll do the same to the Miami media when it serves him.

Unload him now so we can SOMETHING for him.

I was flipping back and forth between 1280 and 1320 this morning and on 1280, Lund was reading comments that Boozer was making back in 2004 when he was in Cleveland. They sound VERY similar to what he is saying now. Remember… Boozer’s agency that was representing him walked away from him when he signed with the Jazz. They refused $3M dollars they would have gotten because it was dirty.

The sad thing is nobody is going to trade for Booze now because they know he is gonna walk in a year anyway. If they trade for him, how are they going to guarantee he doesn’t opt out and sign with Miami after this year anyway. Based on his previous actions, nobody can trust him.

It is official. I hate Boozer. He’s a snake. The Jazz are going to be left bending over and grabbing their ankles. I guess it serves them right for signing the snake in the first place.

Whoa...

Take it easy there, compadre… Who is out there that the Jazz can trade for? I don’t disagree with trading Boozer, or anyone for that matter, if it means we get more in return. Trading Booze because you’re afraid that he’ll opt out next year is stupid if it gets you less than equal value in return. I’m sure he will opt out. If he has another good year, I would be surprised if he didn’t. But that doesn’t mean he won’t re-negotiate his contract with the Jazz. If he doesn’t, that leaves the Jazz more flexibility to bring in someone else.
As far as his comments made in Cleveland go, the media bring up crap like this to stir up Jazz fans, especially during a slow sports month like July.
And it’s time for Jazz fans to start giving Boozer some credit. People can change. I would think that Boozer and his people remember the backlash in Cleveland and don’t want to go through that again. It’s not smart to go around the league burning bridges like that.
Basically, the Jazz shouldn’t trade him unless they get back more in return. If they can do that, go for it. They should always be looking to improve. But remember that it would take a lot to match the ability that he has.
Let’s just hope for the best, and as for Boozer’s contract option next season… Let’s cross that bridge when we come to it.

Trade Boozer!

The Jazz would be smart to trade Carlos Boozer before he decides to opt out at the end of the season. There’s no guarantee he’s going to stay and there’s no guarantee he’s going to stay. Miller, O’Connor, and Sloan need to what’s best for the Jazz and the organization and get something for Boozer before taking the risk of getting nothing. It will be sad to see Boozer leave the Jazz because of the chemistry him and Williams have, but then again what player wouldn’t have good chemistry with D-Will? Boozer’s biggest strength is his quick first step on the offensive end, but his biggest weakness is his lateral movement on defense. Boozer’s gotta be one of the slowest defenders in the league and it’s frustrating to watch. It’s going to be hard to move Boozer because of his ties with Miami. The team giving up quality talent similar to Boozer will be dealing with the same issue facing the Jazz, will he bolt for Miami when the season is over? All signs point to Boozer opting out and heading to Miami during the off season next year. His family lives there, his little boy can’t live in high altitude places, and Boozer’s Boozer. Do you all remember what happened to Cleveland a few years ago? Boozer doesn’t know the meaning of loyalty and will do what’s best for Boozer. Yes, he has his family in mind and I respect that; but at the same time Boozer’s character is a little shady. I’d really like to see Boozer stay, but if the Jazz can get a long, athletic power forward to replace him I’d say pull the trigger Kevin. The Jazz are in an interesting transition with the health of Larry H. Miller so eliminating as much of the off season heart ache as possible before the off season next year would be in there best interest. It’ll be a big off season next year…

Trade Boozer!!!!

honestly

my fears about Boozer leaving largely dissipated when Deron signed his contract. You think he would have done that if he knew there was a possibility of his running mate bailing on the team and leaving him in the lurch?

It still might happen that Boozer goes for the benjamins, but I don’t think D-Will signs that deal without some assurance from Boozer that he would be sticking around too.

I'll make it.

If rumors are believed

he also told the Cavs that he’d be sticking around.
Just saying…

Besides, Leaving the Jazz wouldn't be a classless move

I think it’s funny how people are talking about how Boozer is going to screw us over like he did to Cleveland. If Boozer decides to leave the Jazz, it will be sad, but he doesn’t owe the Jazz anything. In Cleveland, he had a “behind the scenes agreement” which he obviously broke. Free Agency is Free Agency and he has a right to go anywhere he pleases. The worst case scenario if Boozer does opt out, is that we would have cap space to pay other players or sign other players. Trading Boozer should only be done if we improve the team as stated earlier, not to just “get something in return.”

The more you try to erase me, the more that I appear.

If he leaves

we’d put the money towards re-signing ‘Sap, Okur & Korver (& Fesenko and Price?). Plus some money will have to go (not next year, but the year after) towards Brewer & Almond.

Not much left to sign more than just our own guys.

The Utah Jazz. The Jazz... duh.

Agreed. He doesn't owe the Jazz a thing and leaving wouldn't be "classless"

It’s the pandering to the media I don’t like… he tells everyone what they want to hear (not just the media but upper management as well. See Cleveland.) He’s a snake. Period. Even if he ends up staying here, he’s still a snake. That won’t change my opinion of him.

Honestly.

This doesn’t worry me one bit. I think that when Boozer leaves (notice it’s when not if) there are going to be tons of PFs who will want to come play with Deron. We’ll be fine.

Let’s start talking about how the LBJ trade could all pan out.

by DaniellelovesKK on Jul 28, 2008 10:23 PM MDT reply actions   0 recs

If Booze does leave,

it won’t leave the Jazz completely helpless. If we can keep Memo and Korver, then all we’d have to do is slide AK to the 4 and make KK the starting 3. Or, if we pick up a center in free agency, then Memo can play the 4.

I’m just hoping Kosta can develop fast enough to provide a safety net in all of this uncertainty.

This year

I hope Boozer treats every single game this year like he’s courting a max contract from Miami… because if he does, we’ll surely win the last game of the 2009 playoffs.

My team is on the floor.

That's true...

One good thing about all of this is that it’s essentially a contract year for Booze, Okur, and KK. If all those guys are trying extra hard to get paid, we could be in for a special year.
