Guests in the Booth?
The idea here is not to be upset with current broadcasting, but if you could add one voice to the pre-game/half-time/post-game shows, or add one voice to the live broadcast, whose would it be?
Dennis Miller? Stephen A. Smith? Larry Miller? Stockton? Chris Rock?
Say who and say why...
(This would have worked as a poll, but then I'd be the one choosing. Better to hear from all of you. Maybe with a reasonable list, BasketballJohn can choose a top five and make it into a poll/contest. Then TrueHoop will pick it up again and maybe the winner will read it and offer her/his services.)

I would like to see
Ostertag. He was in PHX last year and Booner and Boler were interviewing him. He was pretty funny. He was ripping on Violet Palmer (female ref) and did a great job BSing. I think he would be great.

I'm a big fan of Charles Barkley.
He is just so honest and I think broadcasting needs more of that. But for this poll, I would really love to see Ozzy Osbourne sit court side. Can you imagine what I riot it would be to have Booner and Boler explaining the finer points of basketball with the Ozz man. But since that probably wouldn’t happen, how about some dorky high school kid who has a good knowledge of the game. We should hold a writing contest and the best entry gets to sit in the booth. 18 years old and under. And just to ask a question. Do people like Craig Bolerjack? I just wonder.
The more you try to erase me, the more that I appear.

I can’t stand Bolerjack, or Ron Boone. I prefer good ol’ Hot Rod, but he’s starting to lose it in his old age. (I posted about this on the old basketballjohn.com blog, but I was listening to Hots call a Utah vs. Charlotte game, and called Raymond Felton “Felton Spencer” twice, and then completely forgot the name of the team we were playing).
The few times I’ve heard Hornacek in the booth I thought he did pretty well. I would be ecstatic if they replaced Booner with Horny.

Bolerjack
I think after one more year of Boler, I will be able to say everything he’s going to say right before he says it. If I buy up to get Fox Rocky this year to watch all the games, I’ll have Boler’s canned schtick down by the All-Star break.
I really liked Coach Van Gundy on abc – except that Marc Jackson kept getting him to talk about stupid personal stuff. But if you had Van Gundy as the color man, we’d all learn a ton more about the game, about coaching decisions. He’s like Doug Collins only knowledgeable. As a matter of fact, I would love to have Van Gundy on the jazz bench, right next to the guy with scissors and magic spray in his pockets.
Ozzy is a great choice. Would he speak (unintelligible) or sing (perfect diction)?
Horny should be on the bench. And Booner would be better if he were drunk. He gets so irritated at the refs sometimes, but he’s pretty cool about it. I’d like to hear him go off about the refs uninhibited by sobriety. Can a ref call a T on a broadcaster?

Hornack would be nice. So would Barkley.
I went with Collins, because that means he wouldn’t be on the team then. :)
The Utah Jazz. The Jazz... duh.
The best NBA team in Utah... no doubts about it!
Playing For Pride. Pirates, Utes, Panthers, and more...
Because, in the end, only one team can "win it all".

Anyone but Boone
I love Hot Rod calling the play-by-play. Bolerjack is alright. Boone never finishes a sentence and never finishes his thoughts. He stops mid-sentence or sometimes it doesn’t even seem like he is watching the game.
Van Gundy is who I voted for. He is a riot and I would love to hear him uncensored. He has that coaches knowledge. I can’t get over his comment to Marc Jackson about AI being “pound for pound” the best player in basketball. He ripped Jackson. I like his honesty.
Barkley would be good to have as well.
I like having someone who can give you an insiders view of what is going on. Makes you watch the game looking for stuff that they talked about.
Hubie Brown is awesome too. I would love him to be uncensored.

Barkley
hes a slow talker, but worth listening to. he knows that hes unimpeachable, so he’ll say anything. awsome! I think most girlfriends know more about basketball then Ozzie would, so it would only be funny once. but if im wrong, tarded talker ozzie could be entertaining, even if he only had a cursery understanding. I just couldnt tolerate him otherwize
