Utah Jazz @ Oklahoma City Thunder - Game Thread

Utah Jazz at Oklahoma City Thunder, Jan 14, 2009 6:00 PM MST

Not a game to be taken lightly.

The spunky Thunder are a more respectable 3-4 in their last 7 games.  Excluding their 40 point blowout to the TWolves, they've been in every game.

That stretch started after the signed Nenad Krstic back from Europe.  A coincidence? Probably.  But he's played pretty solid for them.

The Jazz will be without Millsap once again as he's still sore from his knee-to-knee collision with K(to)K.  He's suppose to have an MRI.  While it's not suppose to be serious, we've heard that too many times this season.

Utah has already beaten the Thunder at home this season.  That was Jerry's 1,000th win with the Jazz.  They led by 31 at the half but eased up in the fourth and had to hold off a Sonics run that cause the final score to be just 104-97.

This is another should-win game even if it is on the road.  Memo cools off a bit (how could he not?) and we see Deron & AK light it up.

TV dolts

Are painting the klamha Thunder as a worthless team, last in all these stats and such.

BooHoo

They could kill us if we look past them! After all we made that, losing to losers, almost famous last season.

GO JAZZ!!

Good luck, Jazzmen

Unfortunately, I have a class, so I’ll miss a large majority of the game.

5 in a row!

how bad is a cartilage bruise?

by moni on Jan 14, 2009 6:00 PM MST up reply actions

The injury itself shouldn't be a bad one. The bruise terminology is interesting since the knee doesn't have blood vessels around it.

But because it isn’t surrounded by vessels, it will also take longer to heal. My worry is that the injury is giving him so much pain, so there might be some damage. Bottom line: it’s just going to take some time to heal. My guess would be one week or so, but you never know with Paul Millsap.

thanks...

ugh bad knews. and sap said that that knee hurts than his hyperextended one.

is AK wearing some kind of leg brace?

blech

I am displeased with our performance so far. Haven’t been playing super close attention as I’m at work, and also working on a Fanpost summarizing how the SLC Dunk fantasy league is coming along.

Uh, do you think you could draw me like a ninja?

by Shums on Jan 14, 2009 6:32 PM MST reply actions

Like I just said, OKC is hitting contested jumpshots so far.

And I don’t think they will keep it up. We just need to keep attacking.

The more you try to erase me, the more that I appear.

Fanpost is up

League members, follow the format and get me your updates. Non-league members, well, hope it’s mildly interesting.

Uh, do you think you could draw me like a ninja?

well

only my update and yours are up right now. No one else has sent me updates.

by Shums on Jan 14, 2009 6:45 PM MST up reply actions

This is a much improved OKC team and they are getting some calls.

With that said, they are hitting some very difficult shots right now and we are missing some gimme plays, so we will catch up if the game continues like this.

Harpring with a semi-athletic move.

Surprising.

He has played pretty well lately.

Even I, his biggest critic, will give credit where credit is due.

I'm really unglad

the Portland somehow landed the #1 pick (and Chicago the same this past season).

by UtesFan89 on Jan 14, 2009 6:36 PM MST up reply actions

But it is times like these that we miss Millsap the most.

We have Harpring and Koufos on the floor together, which is just kind of tough.

The Magic

hit a NBA record 23 3-pointers today in killing the Kings.

Wow!

by UtesFan89 on Jan 14, 2009 6:42 PM MST reply actions

Kings...

Play some D. Seriously.

According to Ben at Third Quarter Collapse…

What’s more remarkable: that the Orlando Magic made an NBA-record 23 three-pointers in their big 139-107 win, or that the Sacramento Kings left them wide-open on at least three-quarters of them?

by UtesFan89 on Jan 14, 2009 6:45 PM MST up reply actions

Yep.

But they didn’t complain about us running the score up… though I guess that’s because we played D the same way they did.

by UtesFan89 on Jan 14, 2009 6:47 PM MST up reply actions

that's cuz we didn't run the score up

it was too close for comfort for the last 18 minutes

Harpring with terrific defense on Green. Not!

agreed though

it was terrible D.

Uh, do you think you could draw me like a ninja?

by Shums on Jan 14, 2009 6:57 PM MST up reply actions

That is actually my # 1 pet peeve with Harpring. His defense.

When he “helps” on defense he usually just ends up in no man’s land, so that he is neither double teaming nor guarding his own man. So he is useless. And on that 3, he was just standing 3 feet off of Green for no reason. Even if he gets up and plays him, then at least there is a chance for help defense. But the defense he played was basically just shooting practice for Green.

No good places to watch online?

Anybody seen one? Channelsurfing’s link is not working.

Well, its official. If we are going to win this game, Williams is going to have to take over.

Right now he only has 8 points and 5 assists. He will need probably 30 points if we are going to win this game.

so was elton brand.

so was rasheed as a 4th round pick.

by moni on Jan 14, 2009 7:15 PM MST up reply actions

Yeah...

I ended up re-adding Dalembert just recently for some odd reason.
Not quite sure what I was thinking.

by UtesFan89 on Jan 14, 2009 7:17 PM MST up reply actions

That's always good

points would be nice to.

Oh, and Ron Artest is a pain to have on your team.
I would suggest never drafting him.

by UtesFan89 on Jan 14, 2009 7:18 PM MST up reply actions

Agreed.

But I have him on 2 teams, and both have only 2 or 3 man benches, and he’s always hurt.

I like the leagues with extended benches (5 or so players)… for that reason if nothing else.

by UtesFan89 on Jan 14, 2009 7:19 PM MST up reply actions

jeff foster has played 1:28

and has 4 fouls

but he’s in the game with 1:25 left and the pacers down by 1

by moni on Jan 14, 2009 7:17 PM MST up reply actions

Solid. :)

At Indy Cornrows after the game, they were mentioning how they would’ve preferred Foster man up on Okur… even he was to foul out in 5 minutes.

by UtesFan89 on Jan 14, 2009 7:19 PM MST up reply actions

KK

already has more points then the bench combined had against the Pacers.

by UtesFan89 on Jan 14, 2009 7:09 PM MST reply actions

this is getting out of hand.

I’m concerned.

Uh, do you think you could draw me like a ninja?

by Shums on Jan 14, 2009 7:31 PM MST reply actions

We are not going to win this game, my friends. It doesn't feel like we will anyways.

Why hasn’t Price played tonight? We need his energy.

bloody hell

this is humiliating.

Make it happen baby: Cubs, Jaguars, FSU, Jazz, Thrashers.

by camnorris14 on Jan 14, 2009 7:33 PM MST reply actions

I'm not one for excuses, but missing your 1st and 2nd string power forwards is difficult on the road.

We are going to have a hard time winning any of these road games without Millsap.

The more you try to erase me, the more that I appear.

by clarkpojo on Jan 14, 2009 7:36 PM MST reply actions

Oh, and also.

Why start Price?
The Thunder are start 3 Fs (Durant, Green, Mason), and we counter with 3 Gs (Deron, Price, Brewer)?

We look like we have given up.

sure, no hurries.

I’m just throwing them up as I get them. And I’m not looking for ridiculously deep analysis. Follow the template on the thread, shouldn’t take more than five or ten mins. Whenever you have a moment is fine, bro.
