I'm torn on Mr. Boozer
Let me be frank, I don't care for Carlos Boozer the person. I think he's a snake. Based on that alone, I want to see him gone. He's either aloof, or a punk. I'll take the latter.
It has become increasingly apparent, that although we have a good player in Paul Millsap, this teams is just not the same without Boozer. Boozer brings things to the table on the offensive end (what you thought I was going to say defensive end!) that Millsap doesn't. He brings a post up game and the offense seems to run smoothly with Booze. He pulls double teams and gets other players open looks.
Having said that... As the team is constituted now, I don't see us winning a title even with Booze. So... I see two options:
1. Get Boozer back and get back to where we were last year. (All this assuming we can keep the core together.) We'd be good, but still missing a piece.
2. Kick Boozer to the curb, sign Millsap and go in another direction. You most likely can't keep both. Know that the Jazz may not get much better than they are now with Millsap (unless other additions are made.)
Right now I just don't know.

Why the pessimism?
If we let Boozer go and sign Sap long-term, I think we’ve got a good strong core. We’ve got a lot of good, developing young players that could make a strong bench for years to come. How old is Koufas anyway? 19? Factor in Brewer, Almond and Miles, and I can see us contending for several years…without Boozer.

I am getting the feeling that the Boozer/Millsap starter/backup combo is really not that much better than the Millsap/Koof combo. The biggest downside to letting Boozer walk so far has been, “Well, if you use Millsap to fill Boozer’s role, who fills Millsap’s old role?” I think we can plug Kosta Koufos right in there, give him all of the minutes Millsap used to play behind a healthy Boozer, and we lose a bit of scoring, but probably improve defensively, as The Koof is a pretty solid shot-blocker already. Honestly, I feel pretty good about it.
Uh, do you think you could draw me like a ninja?
Shums, normally when I read your posts I agree with you, but......
You have got to be kidding me about the Boozer/Millsap combo not being much better than the Millsap/Koufos combo. There’s no comparison there. Boozer is an all star and with Millsap backing him up the Jazz look fantastic. Koufos is a rookie with a lot of potential, and maybe in 3 or 4 years he too could be a great player, but he is nowhere near Boozer at the moment.
You only need to look at the record to see how much better the Jazz are with Boozer in the team.
At the moment the Jazz are better off playing Millsap behind Boozer and Koufos behind Okur. With AK at small forward as well, that is a killer front line. Without Boozer it is nowhere near as strong.
of course it is all kind of theoretical while Booze and Millsap aren’t playing, but anyway…
you make good points
I was trying to talk myself into feeling all right about letting Boozer walk, as we are going to have to do. Clearly, it didn’t work on you. :P

You should trade Boozer. Not let him walk.
There are a lot of teams that would be willing to give you some players/picks of value for him.
My favorite teams are the Blazers and any team that is playing the Lakers.
Dallas has a guy named Josh Howard and Milwaukee has a guy named Richard Jefferson.
Interested in any of those guys for Boozer.
I have witnessed time and time again.
Actually, Richard Jefferson would be a really nice fit too.
I should have included him in my piece.
The more you try to erase me, the more that I appear.
I'd take either of them
The line-up would be:
PG Deron Williams
SG Ronnie Brewer
SF Richard Jefferson or Josh Howard
PF Ronnie Millsap
C Mehmet Okur
Key Reserves:
Kirilenko, Koufas, Miles, and Knight
I think we could compete with that squad. We’d finally have that third scorer to compliment Williams and Okur and we’d have an option on defense against the likes of Kobe, Melo, and McGrady.

congratulations
you just became every opposing team’s announcers. :)

Has Boozer ever played center for you guys?
If not do you think he could?
I have witnessed time and time again.
I think he has a few times when the Jazz have gone small.
They’ve had him at the 5 and Millsap at the 4.

I’d love to see my Bucks try to nab him in a Jefferson deal. The Bucks need space to retain CV/Sessions, so I wouldn’t mind shipping Jefferson out to clear some space and get some younger guys. But you could certainly say a Boozer/RJ deal helps both teams a lot. Not sure if Bogut/Boozer are ideal complements, but the Bucks would have a better chance of getting into the playoffs this season. And even if Boozer walks, the Bucks might be able to get something a S/T and then they can keep their youngsters at least.
