Hey

It looks like Deron will start after all.

Put in Fes. For Boozer.

Perkins is too big for Okur

more importantly

the Knicks also play tonight :P

This is going to be a looooong night.

With Deron ailing, no one can create their own shot.

by clarkpojo on Nov 11, 2009 5:47 PM MST reply actions

I would have preferred he took the night off

But at the same time, it’s very Stocktonish to play through the pain, so i like it

by sherbs on Nov 11, 2009 5:47 PM MST up reply actions

Plus

he wants to win, and he knows Maynor can’t get the job done.

Don't pretend, Boone

You know you want to punch Boler.

by Vromanite on Nov 11, 2009 5:56 PM MST reply actions

poll question

who wants to punch who more?

by moni on Nov 11, 2009 5:57 PM MST up reply actions

Millsap needs to understand that he can't get into foul trouble.

The Jazz need him to be on the floor all night.

I just left David Locke a message about the defensive effort changing immediately upon Boozer's departure.

It is indefensible. Since his departure, the Celtics have shot only one layup when their first 5 field goals were layups. But he will return. I just hope his effort is good.

The more you try to erase me, the more that I appear.

by clarkpojo on Nov 11, 2009 6:02 PM MST reply actions

other possibilities:

he’ll yell at you or ignore you. i’ve seen him do both to non-boozer fans.

by moni on Nov 11, 2009 6:03 PM MST up reply actions

I think that's because most of the comments made are irrational

the 5% of anti Boozer comments that actually make sense get drowned out when he gets bashed even when he is playing well

by sherbs on Nov 11, 2009 6:08 PM MST up reply actions

I agree with you Sherbs. He gets too much negative press.

I personally have no exception to him as a person, but he doesn’t fit with what the Jazz are trying to do anymore. He hurts this team. I have the stats to prove it. He needs a new change of scenery as much as the Jazz need to play without him.

The more you try to erase me, the more that I appear.

by clarkpojo on Nov 11, 2009 6:11 PM MST up reply actions

hmmm

I tend to think a Boozer trade is probably for the best also but..

He spent most of last season injured, and this season isn’t ten games old yet.

He had a pretty consistent season in 07/08 though, and I wouldn’t agree that the team was/is better without him.

You can find stats that indicate Boozer is a much better player than he is as well…

I am also concerned as to who would take over at PF. I don’t think Millsap can cut it as a full time starter and AK47 is not going to be the answer at the 4. Maybe if we get the number 2 draft pick next year we’ll be set

by sherbs on Nov 11, 2009 6:17 PM MST up reply actions

Before the Korver trade the Jazz were 16-16. Went 38-12 afterward.

Of the Jazz’s 7 best players, there is only one player whose per 36 minute productivity decreased. I will give you one guess as to who.

Okur, AK and Brewer’s offensive efficiency have gone up with increased shots per game the last 3 seasons. Boozer and Williams efficiency decrease drastically with increased shots. Deron knows the team is better when he doesn’t shoot.

But bottom line is, when Boozer has played poorly, as opposed to well, it has had no effect on the Jazz winning or losing games.

The more you try to erase me, the more that I appear.

by clarkpojo on Nov 11, 2009 6:23 PM MST up reply actions

hang on

Are you seriously saying that whether Boozer played well or not has no effect on the Jazz winning?

by sherbs on Nov 11, 2009 6:26 PM MST up reply actions

Statistically, yes. Absolutely.

The more you try to erase me, the more that I appear.

by clarkpojo on Nov 11, 2009 6:26 PM MST up reply actions

I can’t argue with your stats, that may be true statistically but……..

do you honestly think that is true?

stats can definitely lie… for example, that wouldn’t take things such as the schedule (just one example) into account, if it is purely based on PER or something similar.

The Jazz were probably at their best in 06/07, although you could argue 07/08. Both of those years Boozer was a beast and an all star (from memory). In that respect, I’ll take my view over the stats any day, Boozer was our 2nd best player and the Jazz played better with him.

by sherbs on Nov 11, 2009 6:32 PM MST up reply actions

I am honestly saying that the Jazz are a better team, the less Boozer does in the offense.

He is a fantastic defensive rebounder, but an inefficient offensive player.

My stats are from nearly 100 games of sample size since the 2007-2008 season.

The more you try to erase me, the more that I appear.

by clarkpojo on Nov 11, 2009 6:34 PM MST up reply actions

i don't have stats to back me up

but i’ve seen it a ton of times where boozer has a fantastic box score (20&20) in horrible jazz losses.

by moni on Nov 11, 2009 6:35 PM MST up reply actions

And just for a taste of what I am saying..

Before Korver trade in 2007-2008 (32 games) 16-16
Boozer- 24.2 points a game- 11.6 rebounds- 18.2 shots a game- 56% fg shooting- 35.5 mins/gm

After trade- 38-12

Boozer- 19.2 points a game- 9.2 rebounds- 14.6 shots a game- 46% shooting- 34.5 mins’gm

The more you try to erase me, the more that I appear.

by clarkpojo on Nov 11, 2009 6:32 PM MST up reply actions

i think that since the jazz decided to make Sap the starting PF

by matching on the offer sheet, sap needs to be given the opportunity to develop as a starter. coming off the bench just delays that for another year. as for ak, i think he could hold his own playing against second-string bigs.

by moni on Nov 11, 2009 6:25 PM MST up reply actions

Furthermore, the Jazz would be better off running and gunning along with the half court sets.

AK and Millsap would be better offensively if Boozer were gone.

The more you try to erase me, the more that I appear.

by clarkpojo on Nov 11, 2009 6:25 PM MST up reply actions

also, put fes at center

and even memo could play some 4 if necessary. his post game isn’t pretty, but it’s improving and he’s a strong rebounder.

by moni on Nov 11, 2009 6:26 PM MST up reply actions

i wouldn't have such a problem with him

if he just kept his mouth shut and played. even with his lackluster d and all, i wouldn’t be automatically picking everything he does apart if he didn’t keep digging his own hole.

by moni on Nov 11, 2009 6:16 PM MST up reply actions

are you referring to press interviews?

Cause since the start of the season he pretty much has kept his mouth shut

by sherbs on Nov 11, 2009 6:18 PM MST up reply actions

yes to the press interviews

but also random comments throughout the season like “i’m a starter”—which he reiterated at the start of this season. it doesn’t help that everyone else talks about being willing to do what’s best for the team and him sticking out like a sore thumb in that respect.

by moni on Nov 11, 2009 6:21 PM MST up reply actions

DWill

More than Halfway to triple-double. lol! How great would that be?

by mcjazzman32 on Nov 11, 2009 6:39 PM MST reply actions

Nah

in Jr. Jazz, I think you have to play them for like half the game.

Not just 15 seconds at the end of each half in a blowout.

how sad

that i think that is the awesomest suggestion ever

by moni on Nov 11, 2009 6:42 PM MST up reply actions

Maybe he should do that

everyone can only play half the game max (save for Deron & maybe Okur/AK).
Everyone has to play 10 (or so) minutes/game.

And the wristbands = GREAT idea.

Here's the thing...

+/- is a horrible stat. Way to dependent on the team you’re out there with.

That said… it’s still annoying to see him have the worst one on the team… and a -11 in a 10 point game.

Of course. Although the stinker he dropped against Dallas. the -27 or whatever, told a great story.

The Jazz looked great when he went to the bench and then looked horrible in the fourth quarter.

Boozer and Okur

Have probably the worst defense. Can’t think of a worse defending starting PF and C

by P_Dizzle on Nov 11, 2009 6:52 PM MST reply actions

frustration...

… is what inspired that comment. I can actually think of a few that are worse. But watch the game and count how many times it appears Memo and Boozer are just watching instead of defending and it pisses me off. Just act like your defending. Millsap will jump and swat, which is also why he is always in foul trouble.

by P_Dizzle on Nov 11, 2009 6:57 PM MST up reply actions

I think it is time to permanently replace Williams with Maynor.

And by permanently, I mean for tonight.

by P_Dizzle on Nov 11, 2009 7:02 PM MST reply actions

I don't have a stat sheet in front of me...

But Brewer looks like garbage out there, IMO. He should taken the deal that KOC offered, instead of playing Matthews into a deal.

by rxmike12 on Nov 11, 2009 7:03 PM MST reply actions

I guess that's true.

But he’s working himself into a deal similar to CJ’s as opposed to one like Millsap’s.

by rxmike12 on Nov 11, 2009 7:08 PM MST up reply actions

not yet

they got to give a good 3rd quarter to make the front office think they can compete, before they piss it away in the 4th and let boston go for 40 in the 4th

That was embarrasing at the end of the quarter.

Not even kidding.

Anyway, not here to rub anything in. I’m just here to tell you guys that I think you got a sick amount of offensive rebounds. Dunno what happened, our D seemed great but we couldn’t keep you guys from getting those.

And Utah has my respect for that. Good luck in the future guys, hope ya’ll pull it together a bit better next time we meet; I like basketball, and I like tight games.

Have fun this season.
