Whoa. Is NYK really starting Larry Hughes? Maybe we can win this one.

by kris247 on Nov 9, 2009 5:21 PM MST reply actions   0 recs

I watch Hughes stink it up in Golden State for years.

Trust me, a team starting Hughes doesn’t have a good chance of winning.

Yeah, that game was an outlier. I hope. (And, in my defense, I think he came off the bench to kill us)

by kris247 on Nov 9, 2009 5:33 PM MST up reply actions   0 recs

he started

but it’s not like he had a great game… just a great shot to finish it…

We were without our two best players as well…. (not to make excuses :P)

For some reason ESPN lists “no significant injuries” for Utah’s injury report. Is that a commentary on ESPN’s laziness, or a commentary on KK and CJ’s skills?

by kris247 on Nov 9, 2009 5:28 PM MST reply actions   0 recs

It figures

I don’t think anyone at espn could name our starting lineup off the top of their heads.

Is anyone watching this pregame shiz?

What is with all the crappy cutouts and graphics and stuff? And that “Magic Number” bit with Locke where all the random statistics kept flying by the screen?

Up the production values, please.

All Head-Case Team

Thinking about the Knicks makes me think about Starbury, and all of the other headcases in the NBA. I would pay to see this team:

PG: Starbury
SG: Iverson
SF: Artest
PF: Rodman
C: Taking Nominations…Maybe Robert Swift?

What are the odds on that the entire starting five snapping and getting ejected in a single call? Even money? 2-1?

When will Boozer understand that yelling at the player he’s guarding won’t make them miss the shot? How many “block in the back” calls do you think he’s going to have?

That AI could be a good fit in Cleveland. I think I agree. Him and melo found a way to co-exist. And it would be great for my fantasy team.

Are you kidding? Can you imagine James, Shaq and AI all looking for the ball? You could sag off two players, double-up on LBJ and AI, and use a player like Memo to push Shaq out towards the line, and make him ineffective. There’s no way that team wins 50+ games.

by kris247 on Nov 9, 2009 5:55 PM MST up reply actions   0 recs

As much as Lebron scores

He has always wanted to be a playmaker as well. AI gives him another finisher who can also draw some of the defenders attention away from James.

The zone D seems to be affecting the Knicks offensive rebounding

Nobody’s really crashing the offensive boards cuz they have to get back and set the zone. So even if it’s giving us problems, it’s apparently hurting them offensively a little as well.

Boozer isn't the problem

He’s been one of their best players the last few games….

In fact, you can generally tell when he’s had a better game because of the lack of anti Boozer rants the whole way through the thread

his making plays on the court

doesn’t mean all the suckage isn’t the result of his presence in the locker room though….

which i believe is the case.

I don't care for +/- stats per game, but over a season, you can see some trends. Boozer is 3rd to last with a -22.

We all know about his defensive deficiencies, but have you noticed his offense? His numbers are anything but efficient. Deron Williams has become a shot-seeker this year, but Boozer is second on the team in shots, but dead last in shooting percentage of people who have shot more than 50 shots. And he doesn’t draw fouls. He is incredible inefficient offensively. In fact, this game is really his first good game offensively.

Deron is struggling too offensively, but he is trying to do too much. It has been a problem for him for a couple seasons. Boozer just has really bad shot selection, especially against any team with any interior defense.

The more you try to erase me, the more that I appear.

+/- stats don't work

According to +/- Kevin Durant is about the worst player playing for Oklahoma, but try and tell me that you wouldn’t trade him for any guy not named Deron Williams.

Take away the first few games of the season and Boozer has not done badly offensively. He’s shot nearly 60% for the last 4 games and shoots 53% for his career, so I don’t agree that shot selection is a big problem. After this game, both Williams and Okur have dropped below Boozer in FG%.

He’s not great defensively, but we’ve known that for the last 5 years…

Because it’s Boozer everyone is on the bandwagon saying that he is playing terribly and commenting every time he makes a mistake. If Millsap was playing like this everyone would be beside themselves…

I agree that it is probably best that Boozer is traded, but I think it’s pretty sad that he is bagged at every opportunity even when he plays well.

so.

The Jazz win a close game, and the broadcasters are more thrilled than the fans. The 2009 Utah Jazz: Where ennui happens.

Uh, do you think you could draw me like a ninja?

The closer the game gets,

the more reluctant anyone on the Jazz are willing to defend the paint.

Well this team isn’t designed to play defense..as Bill Murray says in Space Jam – “I don’t play defense!”

second Bill Murray reference tonight!

see, there’s a bright side to everything!

Uh, do you think you could draw me like a ninja?

There are really two ways to look at this game

1. It was just like all the other second half meltdowns, we just got lucky and squeaked it out. The defense collapsed in the second half, the offense sputtered at key moments, we had WAY too many turnover, and we got absolutely abused by a rookie…AGAIN.

And all those things are true. But, if you wanna look at the bright side, the other option is:

2. We won a game on the road, in a place where we hadn’t won in half a decade, in a game in which we faced a zone defense for 42 minutes and in which our star had 5 points and 7 turnovers on 2-10 shooting.

At this point in the season, until Boozer gets traded and/or until we get CJ and Kyle back, we’ve just gotta find little ways to win, and even though this W was infuriating, it’s at least a little bit encouraging that they found a way to get it done. It wasn’t pretty, and it shouldn’t have even been a game, but I’ll go to sleep satisfied tonight anyway.
