The Downbeat - 25 December 2009 - #130 - The Christmas List Edition
Some consistency. Win some games at home and on the road. Beat the bottom teams in the league. Just play the same against every team.
A trade please. What exactly are our goals as a team this year? A first-round exit? If it's truly to be a contender, we need some change.
Deron on the All-star team and then in the talks for MVP/1st/2nd team.
Either a green/yellow throwback jersey or a purple note throwback.
That's my Christmas wish list for the Jazz. Let me know of yours.
MERRY CHRISTMAS

Merry Christmas to you as well Moni!
Oh and of course the rest of you too! :)
It’s white in Central Utah, a bit more white Christmas than we are used to. But it’s all good. Had kids and grand kids running around just enough. Well they could have stayed longer, but it was very nice seeing them.
Enjoy the day/evening as tomorrow we all go back to work around here eh?

Merry Christmas from the desert...
I am so torn on Boozer right now. I know he has said some unwise things in the past and, despite his improvements this year, he is only an average defensive player who still has a knack for not helping on defense. However, the fact is Boozer is an Elite Power Forward, and Elite Power Forwards don’t grow on trees. I say you don’t trade Boozer unless your getting equal or greater value in return. I personally the Jazz shortchange themselves if they agree to aquire Hinrich and Thomas for Boozer or any similar trade.
I keep looking at Memphis’s Marc Gasol, and wonder if the Jazz could package something for him (I mean, they agreed to trade for Kwame Brown and just give away Pau Gasol to the Lakers for goodness sake). Truthfully, I haven’t seen the other Gasol play all that much, but just judging from his stats he seems to give the Jazz the Interior defensive presence and length the Jazz have been missing. I think he can also mask Boozer’s defensive limitations.
Can this happen?
Christmas wish list…
1. The Jazz Front Office to be proficent and intelligent during this important trade period.
2. A few more dunks from DWill like the one from a couple days ago would be nice.
3. Knicks to keep losing ( so we can get another quality first rounder to trade?)
4. Jersey to get hot (3 or 4 in a row would be nice)
5. A Saintsational Super Bowl
6. To return home before valentines day ( My wife has that one too :-)
My DownUnder Xmas Multi-Sport Wish List
1. The Jazz find some ‘4 quarter’ consistency. Playing 60% of a game won’t get us much further than being first round cannon fodder.
2. The front office trade for needs, not names. Defence, length, presence are what we need.
3. DWill gets an All-Star berth. We know how good he is, everyone else needs to know it too. It will hopefully also make DWill stand taller, be more confident and hopefully take over as the leader of the team.
4. Second Round of the Playoffs.
5. Liverpool to win a Cup and salvage something from an ordinary start to the season
6. The Mighty Essendon Bombers FC to improve again this AFL season
7. The 49rs to draft intelligently and be active in the off-season.
8. The Longhorns to keep winning.
9. World Peace (this could actually be the easiest thing to accomplish on this list)
Happy Holidays SLC Dunkers, wherever you may be!
Possibly the southernmost Jazz fan in the world!
My Jazz List
1. More fierce dunkage like DWill crossing over DWade and hammering it home.
2. Memo to pull his head out of his ass.
3. AK to buy some freaking hair spray. Or gel. Or mousse. Just keep the split ends from flying (okay, I don’t know if they’re split ends, but calm the do down)
4. Sloan to decide to stick with the hot hand for once. Screw rotations or starters vs. role players. Whoever is hot at the moment gets the time, damnit.
5. Trade Korver (sorry Danielle) and get under the cap or use him for salary help in another move. He’s done.
6. Free Fesenko… from playing. I know there are some Fes lovers here, I’m not one of them. But then again, at least he isn’t throwing up airball threes (see #2).
7. Beat the Nuggets on Jan 2 (I’ll be there bringing Vegas magic).
8. Just play with some heart. Run the offense since we have no choice and just kick some ass. Go Jazz, let’s get it done!
