Jazz pick up option on Fesenko for next season

From Deseret News:

" The Jazz said today they have informed reserve center Kyrylo Fesenko that they will pick up the third-year, $870,000 team option for next season on his current rookie contract.

The team had planned on going all the way to Monday's deadline for making the call to reveal their decision, but instead Fesenko's camp was informed today.

Because it will be his third NBA season, he will not be eligible to be sent to the Flash by the Jazz in 2009-10."

In doing so, the Jazz opted to further invest in the 22-year-old Fesenko's size and potential — attributes that they apparently decided trump his inconsistent focus and sometimes-questionable commitment to conditioning demands.

Looks like we have the Fesmeister one more year at least so either he sits at the end of the bench or behind.  Either way I'm glad we kept him instead of goin after an old has been big.

I hope Jerry gives the kid some time on the floor, he can't be any worse than the big 00'tag. 3182423_medium

The goof will live to see another season in Utah. Besides we all love his quotables!

This is welcome news...

I hope he takes Collins’ spot in the rotation.

I'm hoping the KOOF does

I’m glad we’ll have at least one more year of Fess to see if he can finally develop. A lot of that will be up to him and a lot more of course will come because of Sloan.

Sloan gets a lot of flak for not playing the youngsters, but if they haven’t figured out that “hard worker”=playing time, I don’t know what else to tell them.

No guarantee he will be back… Sacto is interested and a trade could happen (you never know)

this is b/s

the former head of Fes’ sports agency is now the assist. GM of sactown. (jason levine) this is a conflict of interest that i’ve talked with koc assistant (chriti yates) about on the phone. i’ve also talked with t-ziller about this via email. it sounds fishy.

THE KOOF IS PLEASED TO HAVE HIS COMPETITION FOR MINUTES AND DANCE-OFFS BACK.

HOWEVER, THIS CHANGES NOTHING IN THE KOOF’S QUEST FOR LEAGUE-WIDE OBLITERATION. WILLY WONKA IS NO MATCH FOR THE KOOF.

Uh, do you think you could draw me like a ninja?

that picture is awesome, by the way.

“Check it out, D-Wade. I have good deodorant now! Work well for getting women! Better in Los Angeles, like my Facebook say! You know pretty girls, they should add me!”

Uh, do you think you could draw me like a ninja?

See, and now...

…I’m flashing back to those ESPN commercials with Gheorghe Muresan. Specifically, the one with his own brand of cologne.

“Is that cabbage I smell, Gheorghe?”

“Yeah. Chicks dig it.”

Before each game, please remember to feed the bats.

Ostertag comparison

I love Fess for his potential and attitude.

But he’s no Ostertag, at least not now. Not even close. Ostertag had plenty of problems, and despite how inconsistent he was, he was still a million times more consistent than Fess. Maybe that comment in the post was just a joke. :)

Consistant vs Consistant

Oster Flinstone was consistent alright..at lack of rebounding skill, getting swatted skill, lazy as a dog skill and overall suckage skill.

Fester can in no way be as bad as O. He consistantly fouls, but at least he makes people pay when they get in the lane.

I would just play him to make hard fouls and get the energy of the team up with some D inside instead of the bull fighter ghosts that are presently wasting time..he could spend some time with flop this summer and who knows how consistant he can be getting fouled!

Fester

I just got that. Uncle Fester = Fesenko. I wondered why you had that picture. I feel like an idiot now.

Why?

Why do the Jazz always end up with these big questionable white guys? WHY? Why was I cursed to be a Jazz fan? Why cursed with Jerry? Why? why? WHY? …. booo, hooo,, hoooo……

Would you rather

they resign Jarron Collins again?

If Fesenko can mature a bit, I think he’ll be able to contribute.
If not… he’s a cheap option as a 3rd string C for the upcoming season… which is nice when the Jazz don’t have much money to spend. And then after the season, they can go different ways.

btw, i'm happy about this news.

people who hate on fes don’t seem to get it. he doesn’t suck. his averages in games where he gets to play 12 mpg are as good as guys like bynum pro-rated for 12 mpg. he’s a solid shot blocker as well, and his blocks / foul ratio is one of the best on the team.
