Uh-oh
There goes my hopes of seeing Okur and Millsap both in Jazz uniforms next year.
I hope I’m over-reacting.

That sound you just heard
was Danielle’s enormous sigh of relief.
Uh, do you think you could draw me like a ninja?

If I were Danielle, I wouldn't sigh just yet.
I went over it here… http://truebluejazz.com/articles/april-2009/korver-opts-in-jazz-in-a-bind.html
The Jazz are in a huge bind now. They’ll need between 2 & 4 players this off-season, and won’t have much space to work with.
Options.
1- Trade Harpring & Korver (expiring contracts worth $10 million). Most likely?
2- Entice Detroit, OKC, Memphis or Phoenix (for Ben Wallace, who retires) into trading for AK. Highly unlikely.
3- Booze opts in, and you trade him. Not very likely either.
Korver opting in might’ve just screwed the Jazz over.

If Boozer signs elsewhere, that eases the Jazz financial problems
… then they just have to worry about filling a roster with players that will make them competitive. Charlie V looking like more of an option.

but he sells more tickets and pink jerseys than the others...
he’s good for community morale.
seriously though, i’m mostly glad he’ll be back (and healthy)

I wish he could've been cheaper.
I wouldn’t be surprised to see him get traded.
Going over the luxury tax is, IMO, stupid.
Because, honestly, the Jazz aren’t good enough (with current roster) to win it all.
Which I think is needed if you’re going over.

That was my thought
They’re basically paying the tax so that they can keep Millsap. Is Millsap worth the luxury tax penalty and the money that the Jazz would have received had they been under the threshold? That makes Millsap a lot more expensive.

have to agree
that’s pretty much what i’m thinking when listening to all the radio guys talk about how greg miller said he’d be willing to pay the luxury tax, etc.
this team isn’t good enough to go over the tax for. i don’t think anyone had any doubt that kk was going to opt in though, which has always made the issue boozer/sap/memo.

OMG you guys.
I am like so, so happy right now it’s not even funny. (Like, my face hurts from smiling so much.)

I think you just jinxed it
He’ll be dealt before July is over.
(It comes down to Korver or one of Okur/‘Sap/…Booze…, and Korver probably isn’t worth $5 million considering what he’s given the Jazz)

I'm going to pretend that you didn't just say that.

lol
Sorry, but it’s the truth.
Not that it matters. Booze opts in, and we’re screwed.
Next season is going to be Korver & Booze playing for their next contract.
And potentially no Okur OR ’Sap, which will suck.

We can only hope Boozer opts out
but if he stays, I will pray every night to every religious diety that I can think of that they trade him

Korver should start.
This 20 minute crap is…crap! When he averaged 30min+ with Philly he averaged like 14pts per game. He also shot way better % wise. Looks like he just needs the extra minutes to heat up. Let him have them…he is getting paid for one more year, might as well see what he can do.

Korver
To Matt.
I understand where you’re coming from, but we have to think about what the Jazz are giving up by having Korver on the floor. Sure, he gives us more points…but is that worth the huge lack of defense that he plays? I do realize that at times, he can be a decent defender (mostly with shot blocking), but I’m not sure if putting him on the floor for 30+ minutes is going to be beneficial to the team by the end of the game.
Obviously, if he’s hot that game…then leave him in longer. But on average, I would only bump up his playing time marginally.

Don't know if I've done a proper welcome, but welcome.
Good to see the users growing. Also, you can use the reply link below Matt’s comment so that you don’t have to use To Matt. Looking forward to having you on slcdunk.
