Maynor signed

I just got a text update from the Jazz.

The Jazz have signed draftee Eric Maynor. The PG will play for the Jazz during the 2009 Orlando Pro-Summer League July 6-10.

Best of luck to him!

Some stuff to think about. Would you rather have Maynor backing up D-Will this season, or Ronnie Price? I've been a huge fan of Price since he joined us, but Sloan doesn't seem to realize his potential very often. He plays with everything he's got, he can pass, shoot, create openings for other players, and jump out of the building. Any thoughts on why Price doesn't get a lot of playing time?

Price

j-slow’s system requires a pass-first, set everyone up PG. Price is not that.

yep

I think Maynor will be the backup this year.

I'll make it coach.

Maynor backup...Kruger 3rd string.

Kruger for emergencies only. He can hold his own and would be VERY cheap. Price is very athletic but I dont think he is the floor leader we need during DWill breaks. Maynor can control the pace of the game very well….something we lacked last season with Price and Knight.

Kruger

if I remember correctly, his shot is fairly good as well. It’d be nice to have another guy that can hit a jumpshot.

The only problem I have with signing Kruger is that we don't need to.

With a minimum roster this season, we don’t really need 3 point guards. Sorry Jerry, but its true. Kruger will always be around for emergencies, even without signing him to a contract all season. We can sign him for a 10-day contract if we really need him.

The more you try to erase me, the more that I appear.

i agree

BUt I bet having a rookie back up makes Sloan extra nervous about not having a 3rd.

I'll make it coach.

i'd like to keep ronnie p on the team

but i wouldn’t necessarily be playing him at PG.

I agree...

Price is a little firecracker. He reminds me of Dee Brown..you know the guy from Ill. that we dumped….aahhh….Brown and Aroujo….RIP. Anyways I agree that Price could be that scoring threat off the bench…aka Flip Murray type player. Usually the underdogs that we think deserve a chance get canned quick.

and besides just bringing energy off the bench

the guy is, plain and simple, a class act and a plus in the locker room.
