Confirming what we pretty much knew, 1320 KFAN is reporting that the Jazz will match Millsap. Boozer trade next?

For real
I am tired of speculating on who we will get I am ready to dog whatever trade we make…if I think it will be a bad trade for us then it can only make me so happy if it is halfway decent

Who knows
A source close to the Utah Jazz has confirmed to KFAN’s Scott Garrard that they will match Portland’s offer to Paul Milsap.

Hmm
The Bulls have resigned Lindsey Hunter their veteran PG….they have also signed Janerro Pargo. Looks like Hinrich may very well be on his way out.

Can the Jazz
trade boozer for a little more than a bag of Doritos and a slurpee (actually that sounds like a sweet deal).

Hi S4E! I heard you owned the pickup game

Isn't S4E banned from BlazersEdge?
if so, why does he still get to participate in Bedge pickup games?

Millsap
Well, I’m not dissappointed. Millsap was a double double machine when he was starting on a consistant basis. I’m glad he is back in the fold. I hope, hope the Jazz get a significant player for Boozer.
Who backs up Millsap this year, assuming Boozer does not return?
Nah, back-up
‘Sap starts, but we’ll need a good back-up because he’ll be on the bench in foul trouble about 5 minutes it.

That makes me curious
After all of this offseason drama with Millsap, maybe the refs will give him a break now… It’s possible that he finally has some credibility now that his name has been in the news for two weeks straight.
Or maybe I’m just seeing the world through powder-blue-colored glasses. :)
His fouls per 36 went down last season
More than 1 a game. I think he may be getting there.

I hope so
but the fouls/36 number seems surprising… it really didn’t seem like that when watching him play.

Memphis
I remember hearing they were waiting to sort out salary cap formalities, and haven’t officially traded for Zach Randolph. It would suck for the Clips, but pulling out of that deal for Boozer is a better move for the Grizz.
The Jazz could get salary relief, and Boozer would have to play out a contract year in Memphis. Justice for everyone
Last Summer
I wrote a whole fanpost or comment about why I thought Boozer would be playing Memphis in 2009-10. I was wrong about the circumstances (I assumed, like everyone else, that he would opt-out this summer) but it sure would make me feel good if my prediction were right.
The only problem with a Memphis trade is that Memphis doesn’t really have front court players worth trading for. Maybe we could use Memphis as a facilitator in a bigger deal, but a trade of Boozer for Darryl Arthur and Marc Gasol isn’t going to cut it for the Jazz.
I don't know
Gasol, Arthur & an expiring contract would work for me.

Yeah, I know. The more and more I think about it, the better it sounds. Cap space, servicable young players, no Boozer. It does seem nice.
I know Chris Wallace/Michael Heisley are in charge over there, so anything is possible, but I just don’t see them backing out of the Randolph trade. It would kill what’s left of MEM’s credibility, I just can’t imagine any team would want to deal with them again.
But, I’m with you on your TBJ blog that the Jazz should try to get Tayshaun from DET in exchange for Boozer. Prince would be an ideal Jerry-type player, and he brings a dimension of defense that we haven’t seen since AK’s glory days. Or, maybe Boozer for Rip. No cap relief there, but it would give us the outside shooter we’ve been looking for since Hornacek retired.
Don't know about Memphis
Heisley seems to have no interest in winning. I mean, he didn’t even let Wallace make an offer to David Lee, it seems. If true… WTF?
I wouldn’t target Prince as my #1 guy in the league, but if he’s out there, I’d rather us go land him than swing a 3 way that puts him in Portland.

memphis is really there
just to stockpile good young players to trade to the lakers for the players’ brothers.
awesome
Now they’re spending over $20 million on PFs just to struggle for the 8th seed in the West. Just terrific. Sweet. Jesus. Sweet Jesus.
I can’t hide my disappointment. I really had hoped Portland would land Milsap.
Drex
Its really only bad this year with the bonus. Millsap will be 6/7 mil against the cap afterwards.
The two main reasons why the jazz matched on Millsap.
1. Deron Wanted him back
2. KOC drafted him. Millsap is his guy.
I actually am optimistic that Millsap will be a very, very good player, and that he will be one of the better PF in the League. He could be a David West with better rebounding skills.
I am officially drinking the Millsap Kool-aid.
Predictable, but good move here
As a Blazer fan I had hope Utah wouldn’t match, but I’m not surprised. I you guys can move Boozer for a decent piece you’ll have had a successful offseason, which is more than my team can say so far.
yep, because at some point you are going to have to move Boozer
and you don’t have to include Portland in the trade, but you could include Portland in a trade…..

If Boozer is not traded now...
it will be interesting to see the team dynamic next year.
- who starts, Boozer or Millsap?
- How does Boozer react to this? Does he dog it? Does he play harder than ever?
- How does the team react to Boozer?
- Who is your backup center?
and most importantly:
- When and where will AK47 take his vacation from his wedding vows?

these are honest questions - would like your feedback
I know how the fans feel about Boozer. How do the fans think the team and Sloan will feel about him?

-I’d assume Boozer until he’s traded/gone. I mean, he did have the “I’m a starter” thing last year.
-He’ll play like normal, and probably get hurt. Part of him wants to dog it, the rest of him is working towards a big contract after the season.
-Team react to Booze… if j-slow has his way, no reaction. He’s on the team, you play with him.

MTN, Honk
I thought Deron made it pretty clear during his charity event that he wanted Millsap back.
When asked about Millsap, he said : “I want him here with me.”
When asked about Boozer, Deron was more on the lines of: “He is on the team, we will see what happens.”
If Boozer is back, then he is the starter to open up the season. I believe he will give it everything he has, if for nothing else, to enhance his value for the upcoming 2010 FA.
If Boozer is delt, does AK become the 6th man from the PF position? Koof may be another possibility with Fes at C.
I don't know how to fit AK in,
but I think that’s crucial. He’s got to get some time, and preferably at his natural position. It gets crowded in the paint, especially if Koof or Fes can get going.
I'll make it coach.
Boozer and the Bulls
I find the Boozer situation fascinating.
Boozer seems a great fit for the high screen and roll with Rose. We do not have that inside scoring threat that Boozer would provide. Boozer lying to Cleveland to get out of his contract and sign with the Jazz is a red flag. I question if his injuries were really serious enough to miss all the games he has missed. His defense has been raised as a concern. I question if losing Tyrus or Hinrich is worth taking the one year risk on Boozer..
The real dilemma you have is how do you trade him and get cap relief. Portland seems waiting for a lopsided deal and appears unreasonable. Heisley is unpredictable and OKC not interested. It seems almost impossible to get cap relief in this economic sensitive environment.
You guys have one amazing opportunity. You have the Knicks’ #1 pick next year which I believe will have the opportunity if the lottery balls fall right to be the #1 overall pick in the draft. You would be crazy to trade Boozer to the Knicks. I cannot believe you want to take on Hamilton’s terrible contract. I do not know how you get rid of Boozer and get cap relief.
I admire the Jazz ability to remain competitive despite the changes in personnel over the years. Your draft choices are excellent. This blog seems very knowledgeable and I thank you for letting me post.
