Nobody is cooler than Diamond David Lee Roth.
Check out this website for a sample. (I can play along with the record and not miss a beat.)
On the other hand, Diamond Dave has become this:

I still love him. He still rocks, but he's not going to fill any stadiums anymore. HIs value as a performer is nostalgia, not anything new. I love him for the nostalgia, but I'm not delusional about what it is all about.
Can you see where I'm going with this?
Here's the Sloan we all love:

But let's be honest. This is the Sloan we've got this year:
Which has resulted in this:
and this:

We've got ourselves a Joe Paterno problem here where the only way to let Jerry go is for him to realize himself that he needs to go. Where is the fire? Where is the tired of losing post game rant? Or is he just too tired to get up for that kind of thing?
I don't think it will be long before Deron loses hope for this team as presently constituted, including the coaching staff, and no amount of money is going to keep him in Utah if a championship isn't on the horizon. We have talked about this before, made hints and tried to courteously wonder aloud if maybe Sloan's time hasn't come. But I'm done toeing the "Is this blasphemy?" line. Sloan is holding this team back. He isn't getting the team motivated, fired up and playing the way he played. No amount of nostalgia is going to change that.
My prescription?
