The Utah Jazz Will Bring Back The Note Next Season

The new Jazz colors?

The new Jazz colors?

Fans have been clamoring for a return to the Jazz note of old for some time.   Now it looks like it's going to happen according to Ross Siler,

Jazz president Randy Rigby confirmed that the team has talked to the NBA about the possibility of returning to the music note logo worn through the team's history by everyone from Pete Maravich and Darrell Griffith to John Stockton and Karl Malone.
"We're looking at that," Rigby said, adding, "We've kept that mark so that we can look at maybe doing a redesign."

According to Siler, the Jazz would go with the old logo but use updated colors.  Instead of the gold, purple, and green, we would see blue, green, and gold.  If you're worried about that color combination you can rest a bit easy as it seems that Deron likes them,

As long as we don't go back to the ones with the mountains, I'm cool, the one that Jeff Hornacek has up in the rafters," Williams said, adding of the new uniforms: "They're really nice. I think people are going to like them. I like them."

I don't think we have to worry about the mountain uniforms.  I wasn't a fan of those at all, especially the alternate black one.  I know some aren't big fans of our current baby blue alternate.  I don't mind it.

I wonder if the yellow/green release this year was in a part a trial run to see how the old stuff would be received.  Fans can write or call all they want about wanting the old logo but when it comes down to it, money talks.  The Jazz weren't going to go through the expense of a redesign without knowing that they would sell.  The green/yellow jerseys have been a huge success.

Whatever the reason, it will be good to have the old note back.

Make sure to follow Siler for more news on this.

UPDATE:

Siler tells me that the new colors will be more of a metallic gold, kelly green, and the same blue.  I sure hope the kelly green translates better to fabric,

I'm fine

with not bringing back the mountains to the jersey, but I’m actually a huge fan of the Mountain Jazz logo, the one at center court. I hope they don’t do away with that. It’s a really good design.

bout frigggggin time!

the whole purple mountain thing was atrocious…i’ve been trying to write the jazz for a couple years now to go back to it. glad they listened:) anyway they have to change the mid court design to match the new/old logo. i personally hate the mountain thing…i hope they just put the big j-logo at mid court. im excited to buy some jazz gear for the first time, next season.

Love it

I even like the colors. I’ll kind of miss the yellow and purple that malone and stock used to wear. I loved the Green/ Yellow throw backs.

I also like the powder blue jerseys.

Hell, I like the jazz period. They could wear burlap sacks and I wouldn’t care.

What was wrong with the black alternate jerseys?

Also, I think you can have the note as an alternate logo but keep the mountain logo on the court.

What else do we have to prove?

I agree

Didn’t like the mountain unis but the black alternates looked quite nice. Maybe the problem was everyone seemed to have a black alternate?

Put the Jazz note on the center court!

The mountain logo at center isn’t bad. But I think it pales in comparison to the Note. Who cares if it represents the state more accurately? The Note is the Utah Jazz. It belongs in the center.

Have to say BBJ… I like your original colors better than the updated version.

I think the original one is closer to the real thing

Siler said that the yellow and green are just a bit darker. I looked up kelly green online and that’s what it looked like. It’s probably not that exactly though.

In addition to the note, I’m wondering what the overall design will be like.

Can we get a preview of the new unis?

Got 4 tournaments this year getting new unis next month. Need a template to copy….

Sounds like it's in the very early phases

Deron said he had seen them but I don’t know if he just saw a sketch or what. The Jazz play things pretty close to the vest so I doubt we would see anything until the day they were released.

like everyone else, i'm in favor of the return of the note

i’m not liking the colors, however. blue AND yellow AND green? ick.

i’ve been wanting to get a new jersey for a while, but i’m really not a fan of our current unis (home or road)…they’re just so blah. and so the only one i’ve even half considered is one of those black-copper AK ones. hopefully they’ll roll out the new ones before next season.

Just don't put the "Utah" next to the note! Please!

Curious if they’re planning on adding the “Utah” next to the “note” like they did between 1986-1995? Personally, I think it looks better, cleaner without it. I hope they leave it like they did with the 1982-83 “green” jersey they brought back this year.

granted i only started following the jazz in '92

but the logo looks incomplete to me without the “utah”

I think it would be best if they reflected the logo introduced last season. The color scheme is a lot better.
