was a bad goaltending call. He hit the rim first and the ball was going away from the basket when it hit the backboard. We stole 2 points off that lol.

It hit the Rim on the way up and was flying off away from the basket. There was no way that ball was going to go against physics and fly back towards the basket after hitting the rim at that angle. It did hit the backboard first and then got swatted. It was just a bad call caus ethe ball was going away from the hoop.

that’s like saying if you throw the ball off the top off the top of the top of the backboard from one side of the paint to the other side of the paint, that if the ball gets swatted after hitting the backboard it’s a goal tend.
I’m just sayin the direction the ball was traveling after hitting the rim was in a direction away from the hoop.

that in the situation you described above, if the ref determines that it was a legit shot attempt then it would be considered a goal tend.
And yes I am looking up the rule book right now… AKA I’m bored at half time :)

I very well be wrong. I just the direction the ball is going should make a difference on a goal tend. If it’s moving towards the hoop, on the way down/or off the backboard: goaltend. If th eball is moving away from the hoop or on the way up: blocked shot
