FTL's WHAT UP DOE?

I want to become a regular contributor to the blog (more than just an arrogant and ignorant commenter) and in an effort to achieve that, I thought I’d start posting my thoughts on the Jazz more regularly. Hopefully, it will happen at least once a week. So here it goes and hopefully it will be the "beginning of a beautiful friendship."

FTL’s What up Doe!?!

The season has come to a close for our magnificent Jazz and we are left listening to non-stop discussion on where Lebron James is going to end up. Many of us find ourselves unenthusiastically watching the Conference Finals because it is the only basketball left. (Yes, I know that the WNBA is starting but really…..gag). So what do we have left to look forward to until next season?

I thought it would be nice to throw out some important dates:

May 18th, 2010- NBA lottery picking, Coverage starts at 8pm Eastern on ESPN

It’s the day most of us have been waiting for all year. It’s coming up quickly, next week in fact. It’s the day we get to find out what the beloved Knicks lottery pick will bring us. Will the NBA draft gods favor us by giving us the 1st pick or will they turn their backs on us by forcing us to take the 12th pick. Only time will tell.

June 24th, 2010-NBA draft, Coverage starts 7pm Eastern on ESPN

The big day. The fruits of our wheeling and dealing will come to full bloom in hopefully a top 3 or top 10 draft pick. Will we draft the big defensive center/power forward we’ve all been dying for? Will John Wall or Evan Turner start their illustrious career in Salt Lake City? Or will we the pick and something else for a big time free agent? We all hope to land another player like we did Williams. We want that last piece to push us over the edge.

July 1st, 2010- Free Agency begins.

Teams can start talking to Free Agents. Will the Jazz be able to resign Kyle Korver, Wes Matthews, Kyrylo Fesenko, or even Carlos Boozer? Will the court another veteran player from somewhere else? Hopefully we can make some adjustments and the Jazz can position themselves in a way that will keep them under the luxury tax and continue to push over the hump into the finals.

July 8th, 2010- Free Agent signing

Teams can officially start signing Free Agents to their roster.

With the Lottery picking coming up quickly, I hope you all can start rubbing your Buddha’s belly, praying to whatever deity you believe in, sacrificing small children and animals (not really), and bribing any NBA officials you know to lend some help to the Jazz. We need all the help we can get!
