Invoking our collective 'One Time!'
We all know the draft lottery is based on luck. And while the lottery itself might seem like just pure luck, there are some 'skills' involved as well. You have to successfully suck like the majority of the teams in the lottery or successfully hornswaggle another club to leave their pick unprotected. Either way, there is more than just luck involved.
This reminds me of poker. Poker? Yeah. If you've seen any poker on ESPN the last few years, you've seen people begging for cards to hit or outs to come, and even though the favorite to win seems to be a lock, the underdog comes from nowhere to win. You may have even heard the phrase 'One Time, dealer!' when a player is down to his/her last chance.
I think it's time, we as Jazz fans, go after our 'One Time!' and make this draft lottery thing happen. Looking back in Jazz lore, I don't see any 'magic blessings' coming our way for free. No miracle card dropped in our lap. We've been Bavettad, Jordaned, hell, we even got Pau'd with the Lakers/Grizzle trade. We've never been lucky to snag a Tim Duncan out of nowhere or even slide up a few spots in the draft. So, it's time. Let's pull together and crack those aces with our one-outer. Get all the ugly karma and just misses from years back and get us a top-3 pick.
I'll be here watching... expecting nothing less than for the favorite to win---the Jazz to pick from 9-12. But... I'm holding out hope that something special is gonna happen. And there's nowhere I'd rather be to witness it than with SLC Dunk.

We've had some luck...
I mean we hit Stockton and Malone pretty well…… we drafted Williams over Chris Paul…. stumbled on Paul Milsap and struck gold with Wes Matthews.
I get what you’re saying though. I think it’s time the Nba Gods gave their nod to the Jazz. A number 1-3 pick wouldn’t be an automatic dynasty….. but it would be a significant step the chances of making one.
Landing the number one pick would cause a situation of epic proportions. Do we draft probably the most highly sought after rookie in a few years (John Wall) or do we try to grab a big man we need or do we trade it? Still I’d rather make the F.O deal with those questions then not get the chance…..
So for all the bad karma we’ve felt since being robbed by Jordan’s pushoff… Throw us a bone NBA gods!
For the Love of the Game
MonSTARZ forever!
Yeah, but those things aren't really luck...
I’d call Stockton to Malone good scouting and good finds around the board, but blind luck, no. And no, of course the 1-3 pick wouldn’t be dynasty… but it would give some pub to the team, and hell, make me happy, which is basically good enough.
But yeah, I’ll cash in some of that karma, please.
I will be at work tomorrow night, but my thoughts and good karma will be with my fellow slcdunkers
The more you try to erase me, the more that I appear.
