Questions about Ronnie Brewer
Hi,
by the title of this fanpost you probably realize that i am a bulls fan who has questions about our newly acquired player Ronnie Brewer. I know the general ideas about him being a great defender and very athletic. I was just wondering if someone could go into a bit more detail about his game, how he plays, the flaws in his game, and other nba comparisons to him. I also would like to know how well his abilities can translate from sg to sf. By his height and weight it would seem he has the physical ability to play sf, but i was just wondering if there was some flaw that i didnt know about that made it difficult or impossible. Thanks in advance for any and all insight.

1.
Brewer has alot of heart and plays accordingly
2. He is very athletic and is very sneaky around the baseline
3. He’s an above average defender but I think we over appreciated him just because of how poor our other wing defenders were the last couple years.
4. He shoots jumpshots weird cause of a childhood injury
5. He sucks at jump shots.
6. He has a badass milk mustache.

Treat Brewer well
He was fan favorite here.
What you need to know: he’ll play his hardest night in and night out. Thats just the type of guy he seemed here.
He’s not going to be an All star, but the Bulls got a nice pickup. Some Jazz fans actually wanted us to bring him back.
yea i think most bulls fans do consider it a good pickup
i guess the main purpose of my inquiry is to find out if ronnie brewer can be used as a sf, at least strictly on the defense end….We have a sf named luol deng, who is pretty solid. He has some decent offensive skills, but where he shines is in team defense and rebounding (especially rebounding) and the question was that if we were to trade luol deng, or if he just became injured…would brewer be able to fill the sf spot on the defensive end.
Also a newer question, can Kyle korver play sg as well as sf? I would imagine since he is strictly a shooter, it doesnt matter, however maybe im more question on where he would fit the best on the defensive end…
I dont care what the D.N.A. Says, the Guy wearing number 12 Cannot be Kirk Hinrich, he is definetly Kurt. Kirk can actually play basketball!
Korver is strictly a situational guy.
He tries but he’s not that great of a defender. You’re best bet with him is sticking him in to stretch defenses and then putting him on the slowest of the SF/SGs.

SG or SF?
It’s hard for us to tell you which spot would be better for Ronnie and Kyle because these two spots are designed to be interchangeable on the Jazz. If you lost Deng, you would miss the rebounding. Ronnie’s pretty weak in that area. Korver was actually a much better rebounder. But neither compare to Deng.

i see
thats kind of what i wanted to know, i saw brewers numbers for rebounding, but i didnt know if he had trouble rebounding or if it was more the jazz system that kept him from getting rebounds. How about in defending sfs? Did sloan ever put him on assignment of defending good sfs, was he ever out matched when defending sfs?

Brewer would be fine defending SF's
He’s a decent, but not great defender, but he’s big and fast enough to be adequate on pretty much any SG or SF in the league. He does get a lot of steals, but the rest of his defense is slightly above average — and again that’s regarding both SG’s and SF’s.

AK was the guy we used to defend SFs
Brewer was put on Kobe and other guards a lot, where as Kirilenko (our best defender) would face someone more like Carmelo Anthony. RB had some great games against guys like Kobe and McGrady but would suffer if asked to guard an in-the-trenches physical player like Carmelo Anthony. Ronnie’s a good perimeter defender on D, though..

Go Jazz! Go Hogs! GO BILLS!
I always felt that the answer for Brewer working with the Jazz was moving him to SF. I think it would work just fine.
He isn’t a good shooter and AK is a better small forward, so it never worked out, but Brewer is a good player and finishes really well at the rim. I would love to see him at small forward. He’s strong enough.
I was one of the biggest Ronnie Brewer fans around.
The more you try to erase me, the more that I appear.
