The Black Hole
In trying to reach back and realize every fault of Carlos Boozer, it is a struggle to think of him or the offense as wasteful.
Carlos missed rebounds, looked soft at times on defense against superior post players, lacking in length, etc.
But Carlos never got out-rebounded by rookies or 2nd and 3rd players. He never ruined the offense with 4-8 seconds of wasted time in the post.
In 40+ games of watching Al Jefferson it is very apparent what happens to a player who is payed millions of dollars before suiting up in college, he becomes a black hole. Quite simply, Al Jefferson's game would've developed had he played at a major college- no coach would have put up with his inability to box out.
In this entire road trip, if you watch him in the post, he 'puts a body on his man' less than 50% of the time. I don't know if that's a stat, how many time you physically box out. His boxxing out ABSOLUTELY KILLS ME. I've never seen anything more pathetic out of a big man who claimed to 'bring a championship.'
In short, he is completely lacking of everything a big man should do to win a championship.
To be fair, I'm probably just a whiny fan.
Al has raised his career averages in shot blocks. At times (early in the season) he's looked phenomenal in the post. And I can't say I'd rather be without him.
However, he has limited this team's offensive capabilities.
Seriously, he calls for the ball every time in the post before a play is called. What we run is an afterthought. He is so easy to scout, that we have looked like fools this past road trip. His fast break presence is non-existent.
His pick'n'roll defense is sluggish at best, He cannot hedge a guard. He has no concept of offensive rythmn, with regards to high-low game. He doesn't add to anybody's offensive capabilities in the frontcourt. Nothing has been established between him and Milsap or him and AK, or him and anybody. He hasn't created a lick of chemistry.
I hope to be proven wrong, but we have a black hole.

What I’ve noticed is that when he gets the ball in the post, everybody stops moving. I don’t know if that’s their fault or if they don’t move because they think they’re not going to get the ball anyway. It kills me though that everyone stops and watches Al as soon as he gets it.
He’s an effective scorer, but that shouldn’t be the sole offense when he gets the ball in the post. This is just one of the small problems though.

It's so annoying how badly the Jazz stop moving when Al has the ball
As you said, you can’t pin the fault on any one guy or thing – but it’s certainly happening.
I got the crap beat out of me in Provo one time
I rewatched the 76ers game and looked for two things: how often Al receives a double team and how often movement is stopped off the ball when he has it.
At least in that game the movement around Al was pretty good. He struggles making the pass. But furthermore, he only drew a true double team two or three times in the whole game. A handful of times the point guard would sort of come paw at the ball, but get right back on his man. Lately, I just haven’t seen Al draw that many doubles, which means he has to be really accurate with his passes, and unless he has a really open pass to make, he is struggling making those passes for layups and open shots right now.
The more you try to erase me, the more that I appear.
Not
Necessarily Al’s fault when the offensive scheme stops. I surprised the jazz gm didn’t scout him better. I like Al’s game, but jazz gotta find a way to get him looks without stagnating the offense.
I don't think Al is as bleak as you say, but I do appreciate you not berating and dragging him through the mud
