My new Day Dream

We trade for curry. We have a ton of assets to get it done, Devin Harris, Jefferson, their own draft pick, millsap. There is some combination of these assets that would work, we would probably have to take on some of their bad contracts luckily though they are under the cap. Plus they can't seem to move ellis and ellis and curry don't work to well together
So i was just really sick of lock out stuff and i want to dream of the trading and signing to come. What dreams do you all have? How can it happen?

I like Curry, but he's not a great defender
My dream is to get Bogut and move Sap and Jefferson and run with Favors, Kanter, Bogut as our big man trio.
My second dream is to get either PG Myck Kabongo in next year’s draft (compared to Rondo) to be our floor general, Harrison Barnes, or get combo forward James McAdoo (compared to James Worthy) I also like Austin Rivers, but he’s going to be more of a Russell Westbrook type- not sure we need that.
I second the Kabongo pick
I’m def super excited to watch him play this year. He’s rocking the number twelve as his college number because Stockton is one of his favorite players, he’s playing for Texas, which runs the flex, and he’s a pass first point, which we need. Sounds like destiny, lol.
But if we somehow magically got the first pick, I’d love to pick up Barnes. Super psyched for college ball this year!
Utah>*
I third the Kabongo pick. I also am keeping my eye on Marquis Teague at Kentucky.
Before the Draft, Greg Miller said we needed to get tougher and improve our outside shooting. I think we got tougher with Kanter and another year of Favors getting stronger. As for outside shooting, Hayward can shoot but I’d like to see him do it night in and night out. As a Sophomore in college he had an outside shooting slump. Burks was a poor outside shooter in college and skipped the shooting drills at the combine. Although I hear he has really improved in this area.
As for Curry, he would definitely fix our need for outside shooting. Teams definitely wouldn’t be able to cheat or double off of him like they did Ronnie Brewer. His college career was often used as a comparison for Jimmer. To all the Jimmer fans “Hey if you can’t get the real thing then how about the next best thing”. Personally I think Curry is and will be a better NBA player than Jimmer.
Ultimately, at the end of the day we need a point guard be it through the draft (Kabongo or Teague) or via trade.
Since we’re dreaming, I’ll renew an old thread from about a month ago. How about Chris Paul? We have a really good young promising team that needs a floor leader.
Heck, since this is just a dream, how about Deron Williams realizing that he had it pretty good in SLC? Jerry Sloan is gone, and we’ve got more of a team now for him to work with. It would take a major reconciliation between Jazz Brass and Deron though.

Actually the return of Deron Williams
is my dream I’m always afraid to even mention—because the gloomy naysayers are just so willing to jump down my throat for that. He is just so damn good.
I can dream.

Yes, Deron is an elite player and he really seemed to enjoy playing/living in Salt Lake.
He was really part of the community. He lived in Salt Lake during the offseason. With his Point of Hope foundation, Dodge ball barage, charity golf tournaments, etc.
I always, heard/read him say nice things about Salt Lake and how it was a good place to raise a family etc.
Jason KIdd left the Mavs the first time under somewhat acrimonious circumstances, ended up in New Jersey via Phoenix and came back. Perhaps Deron could too.
I didn't realize Kabongo would be at Texas running the flex.
All the more reason I want him. And the draft is stacked enough with forwards/C (Davis, McAdoo, Drummond, Barnes, Sullinger, Jones) that Kabongo could actually last till the 8-14 range we’ll be in with either our GSW or our own pick.
You may say that I'm a dreamer.
I have a Dream is that Millsap comes becomes a solid SF that rebounds and hits open jumpers and defends SFs better than anyone thinks he can.
I dream that Devin Harris can become the defensive PG for the Jazz that he was in Dallas, and lead the Jazz to the win percentages that he had while he was in Dallas.
I dream that Al Jefferson and Favors become become one of the best big man combos in the game. Favors makes Big Al look better on D, Jefferson draws enough attention on O that Favors gets in great position for monster slams.
I dream that Gordon Hayward will become the player that he was the last week of last season for the entire season.
I dream that CJ can become an average 3-point shooter.
I dream that Burks can become the best scoring combo guard off the bench that the Jazz have ever had.
I dream that Kanter can become a young Charles Oakley and be the most physical hard nosed rebounding rookie in the NBA.
I dream that Bell can bring that “closeline Kobe” toughness to the young guys and teach them some old vet tricks.
I dream that Earl Watson can run the second unit as well as any backup PG in the NBA.
I dream that Jeremy Evans becomes the Paul Millsap of the 2010 draft.
I dream that Memo helps Kanter with the transition to the NBA and hits a few money time 3s.
I dream that AK gets a championship. I don’t think AK will be back and if he isn’t, I hope that he joins a team that he can help win a title. (Unless he joins the Lakers, Knicks, or Heat.)
I dream that Fesenko’s knee heels and he goes on to a happy career.
In the words of John Lennon, “You, you may say I’m a dreamer, but I’ m not the only one. I hope someday you will join us, and the ‘Jazz fans’ will be as one.”
My daydreams are more about the guys we have
That Gordon will be the player we saw in April last year.
That Favors will follow the trajectory of Dwight Howard and Kevin Garnett (whose rookie seasons were encouragingly similar).
That highlights Moni showed us of Kanter become almost mundane for their regularity.
That Alec Burks has the passing and shot of which I’ve only seen hints.
That the team gets good luck and makes good picks in next year’s draft.
That Al, Sap, and Harris are traded for the right kind of players/picks/reasons. And that Sap, especially, gets traded to a good team that he fits in with perfectly.
That AK comes back and gives his wisdom to the kids.
That Fes returns for another year of my favorite dude on the team.
And that we find the right kind of PG to fit our young kids. I don’t even know what kind of PG to hope for right now, there’s just so much hope and so little certainty with the kids. A Rondo-type may be perfect. Or we may need a coup and find the next Deron. I don’t know.

Derrick Favors is a guy really flying under the radar of most sports analysts
With all the bustle of young PF/Cs like Griffin, Love, Aldridge, Cousins and Monroe, Favors has been all but overlooked. Nevermind that he hasn’t gotten any really meaningful playing time over an extended period because of situations he has been in. The fact is, he is currently the youngest player in the NBA (though some incoming rookies may change that), his measurements are only slightly below Dwight Howard’s, and he has the defensive instincts and the explosiveness to be a difference maker on both ends of the court. And, as you pointed out, his rookie year is eerily similar to Kevin Garnett’s. But whose talking about that?
True! We need Favors to become a star.
A good and very realistic, dream would be for Favors to earn the right to start at the PF position, by his play on the floor. It would then make trading away Milsap or Jefferson not only easier but the right thing to do. Although, you might have to change your Jeffersap name :)
ESPN has Favors rated as the 138th best player in the league. Jefferson is rated as the 52nd best player and Milsap is 57. Boozer is 50 and while we don’t know where Deron is, presumably he’s top 20 if not higher.
We still need a superstar. Not since the Detroit Pistons beat the Lakers has a team won a title without a first or second team all NBA player. The Mavs did it this year with Dirk being a 2nd team all NBA player but you have to remember that Dirk was a former league MVP and he played like it in the Finals.
So, here’s to the dream that Derrick Favors becomes a superstar.
My dream is that Favors becomes the 2nd coming of Karl Malone.
My other dream is that the Jazz play well and develop their team well for the near future, but miss the playoffs, and that GS gets the 8th pick in the draft. Then, I would like to see the Jazz get some combination of Andre Drummond, a good small forward and/or a good point guard in the draft. However, I think the Jazz could get Andre Drummond only if they had the first overall pick.
Drummond looks like a once-in-10-years center. There seem to be a pretty good selection of small forwards in the top of this year’s draft, as well, and two decent point guards in Teague and Kabongo.

Drummond has tons of talent
But his drive and ethic have been called into question. I’ve heard him compared to A’mare Stoudemire.
I also like the Kabongo pick but would love to see us get Kidd-Gilchrist too.
If the Jazz aren’t going to bring on a defensive minded coach then we need a defensive minded player/leader. My examples include what Tyson Chandler and Tony Allen did for their respective teams. Neither are scorers but both have a PASSION for defense. Tony Allen example would be more applicable to our situation. Kidd-Gilchrist supposedly can’t shoot too consistently, however, almost every article about him talks about his incredible defensive skills and leadership on the defensive front, raising the defensive intensity for the entire team. That’s what Tony Allen did for the Grizz and they ended up one game short from the conference finals when the year before they didn’t even make the playoffs. The Jazz need a Chandler or Allen and I think they can maybe find that in Kidd-Gilchrist.
I agree. There are some other good choices at small forward in next year's draft, as well--Quincy Miller looks like he might be somewhat a clone of Kevin Durant.
What’s great about the Jazz’s situation is that they are getting all these high draft picks when they still have a pretty good core of team, which will make the transition period from lottery team to contender much shorter, I hope.

Having potentially 2 lotto picks could prove interesting
I think our priorities would be 1) a floor general (Kabongo, Teague) or a scoring SF (Miller, McAdoo, Barnes) However, the sheer value of a guy like Davis or Drummond is SO high that they would also be tough to pass up if we somehow had a top 3 pick. Suppose we drafted Drummond- obviously we do not need him (or Kanter) We can use one of them to get in a high yield trade, the same way the Nets used Favors to get D Will. Could be really, really interesting.
Dreams?
I’d love to Have Kyle Lowry or Michael Conley as a pg if I were dreaming at a level that may be achievable. I say Conley might be one of the more available PG’s out there. I really think that Memo’s expiring might do it. If you are in Memphis you know that you want to keep Marc Gasol, but you are paying Z-bo and Gay $15 million, they just gave Conley a $10 million payday, does that leave room for Gasol? no and I think anybody would tell you that Gasol was more important to that teams success than Conley. I think that Conley would fit really well in our system, I think he brings a lot, and is continuing to get better.
But I think that Curry has a lot to add to the Jazz team, his defensive inefficiencies could be improved in a system that isn’t Golden State too. I just don’t think he is very attainable.
