Where To Go From Here
With the Jazz not in the playoffs, I find myself finding a hard time watching the playoffs. I usually watch playoffs if the Jazz are in, and by the time they are eliminated I am still somewhat into it. To keep my basketball mind busy, I have focused on what the Jazz need to do in the offseason.
Under Contract To Come Back Next Year
Al Jefferson
Mehmet Okur
Devin Harris
Paul Millsap
Derrick Favors
Raja Bell
Gordon Hayward
Jeremy Evans
CJ Miles (Team Option)
From the list of what we have coming back, you have a starting PG in Harris, SG in Hayward, SF in Millsap, PF in Favors, and C in Jefferson. Personally, I feel that is what the starting lineup needs to be. Bell is coming to the end of his career and is perfect to come off the bench. CJ seems to play better coming off the bench when we need a sixth man. Towards the end of the season, Hayward looked a lot more comfortable playing the 2 instead of the 3.
With the draft coming up, I feel that we should trade away our first pick ONLY if we receive the number one pick. Call me crazy, but there is nobody in this draft that has stood out to me. Irving hasn't proven himself on the college level and nobody is an easy fit for us with that high of a pick. I would offer to possibly trade down and get us a talented big man to back up Jefferson, maybe a Andrew Bynum.
With the next pick, I would personally look at Jimmer Fredette. I know Jimmer isn't that popular due to lack of defense and not being able to be a floor general but he reminds me of a CJ Miles. If you was to bring in Jimmer and CJ as your sixth men, they could potentially kick start the team.
So now I leave it to you, look at who we have left and the draft coming up, who would you pick? Would you trade away? Would you go out and splash big on the free agency market?

Did you watch Irving play pre injury
or in the tournament? Kid kills it. There’s a reason he’s a projected top two pick with less than a dozen games at the college level.
If we win the lottery, we take Irving no questions. If we don’t, I’d like Knight, Vesley, or maybe risk on that Biyombo kid. Second pick, Jones is my first choice, but he may not be around then.
Utah>*
Only in the sense that he can come off the bench and make shots when we need him to.

I see this as a two-man draft, so if we can trade up and get a top 2 pick, we should do it. The #3 pick isn’t going to be significantly better than the #6 pick. I don’t think Millsap can play the 3, so as much as it pains me, we probably have to trade him if Favors is ever going to develop into the player he can be. If we can package him with the #6 pick to get Irving or Williams, so be it. I do like Jimmer with the #12 pick because he can provide outside shooting and scoring, which were two thing we really lacked this year, unless of course we take Irving or Knight with our first pick.
I'm with you
How in the world could Millsap play NBA SF? He is way too slow. He is the odd man out and has to go.
Al Jefferson at Center
Derek Favors at PF
Gordon Hayward at SF
CJ Miles at SG
Devin Harris at PG
Draft Brandon Knight at 6 to backup Harris until he can go fulltime starter.
Draft Klay Thompson to be compete for SG spot.
Trade Millsap away for future picks or keep him for bench role.
Sign some length. Get some 6’10-7ft legit big men who can log some good bench minutes.

Hayward should be the starting SG.
Harris, Hayward, AK, Favors, Jeff.
Miles, Millsap, Memo off the bench.
that’s my opinoin.
For the Love of the Game
Stockton to Malone- The perfect combination!!

MonSTARZ forever!
I don't know
I see him as a SF but I think he should be listed as Sg/Sf being able to be very legit at both positions.
Being versitile allows the Jazz more flexibility when it comes to FA and Draft.

I agree with this lineup
Also, If CJ is the best we can do as a starter for the future, we are in trouble. CJ can shoot well at times, but his inconsistency hurts more than it helps. He has the skills to be good, but doesn’t seem to be able to get out of a star mindset/style-of-play. He could be a decent starter on a bad team, where he gets the ball all the time, but he will never be a starter on a contender caliber team. That is what we should be shooting for. Therefore, CJ belongs on the bench with us, or we should let him go.

I was surprised that Greg Miller spoke so openly about CJ's inconsistency. I think he's getting better and I have high hopes he will put it together completely next season.

nets fan here, i would go youth movement
get rid of bell and ak47 and allow younger players to play
It seems pretty obvious that we should play the youngsters, doesn't it? We'll see what happens.
