[Work in Progress / Votes needed] New Jazz Quintet Format?
Hello all, I'm trying to improve on the things I've started here. And I need your help to make them better. First of -- is this a "better" sized image? Does it present the information more clearly? Do you miss the old format. Please speak your mind.
Thanks,
Amar

I'm trying to see if the image works better in the app,
but it’s not linked up on the home page yet.

also . . .
tell me if the image loads up correctly . . .
and tell me what are you looking at it with (desktop / laptop / phone / tablet device / crystal ball, etc…)
and what operation system (win / mac / uh, BeOS?)
and what browser (i’m assuming everyone uses opera right?)

My results
This is an improvement, just a little bit more tweaking.
Safari on Mac: In Post view it looks great. When you look at it on the home page, where the post preview is given, Earl Watson is cut off because the image is too wide. I think if you want to put the image above the break, you are going to make it skinnier. You could spread things out a little vertically.
SB*NATION app on iPhone: The picture shows up fine but you have to scroll to the right to see anyone besides Jefferson and Hayward. That is fine though because you can scroll, unlike the website.

near the top right of the page there is something
that could help.
a little box thingy in blue with the title SLCDUNK
on the view section click on “wide” vs. “narrow”. see if this helps.
thanks,

I am in no way affiliated with the blog of the same name.
Also if you vote "no"
can you tell me why? i’m trying hard to make this jazz community a fun experience for all. i will listen to your concerns about this, or anything, and hopefully i can make things better.

I selected no
Because I didn’t log in, so the site forgot that I like to look at things in the wide format. Silly me.

I said no because
At first I could only see about half of the faces, but I ended up figuring it out.
I voted no... it looks WAY cheesier to me than the other one
Huge smiling faces coming out of a starburst of light… ummm….

Voted meh
i like both ways. this way it doesn’t seem like a pecking order as much more unified fitting with “We are Utah” only complaint the music notes seem to clutter it sorry. And is there some way to make the heads shake a little like bobble heads. Good job though to you and all of the SLCDUNK crew.
no one needs to apologize for telling me how you feel. i can't read minds, after all
here’s the image w/o the notes. i am trying to get some sort of unified music/jazz theme throughout the site (other SBN sites do this too)
perhaps the notes are forced?

could the heads be over notes or instruments, There contributions could be related to an orchistra and how each part is vital and important. some music pieces its the saxaphone or guitar that really stck out. sometimes its the drums or other instrument. but I personnaly like it without the notes. thanks
the season is similiar to a concert fast songs slow songs highs and lows. the playoffs are an encore if the concert was performed well and if the encore is played well it continues on a little longer.
thank you for your posts. i am going to think of some wonderful things
the star theme came out from the original — “stat stars of the night”, but i think we’ve moved beyond the star thing . . .

It does look less cluttered without the notes.
Also from a design principle spacing around objects is very important. It may improve the look just a little bit to have more space on the edges.

Either no notes or saxophones along with the notes
