Who the Jazz will get in return for Harris
After the hard loss against the Mavericks, sports media exploded with stories and rumors about the Jazz shopping around PG Devin Harris. I personally have never seen Harris as anything more than a temporary PG for the transitioning Jazz and would love to see O'Connor make a good trade right now. The question is what kind of trade will we make:
- Will we trade him straight up for another PG?
- Will we trade him for a SG/SF and let Watson and Tinsley take over?
- Will we package him with a big to make a move for a higher caliber player?
Bleacher Report posted an article listing three teams that may be interested in Harris. Here are some possible trades involving these teams as well as others that might have an interest in Harris (some may have to involve picks to make plausible).
Celtics - http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=8836eb2
Warriors - http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=86gdsev
Clippers - http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=7xowspx
Suns - http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=6rwxfzz
Nuggets - http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=7dj5a2s

The only trade I could ever see being accepted is the Celtics one
It’s the only one that makes sense for both teams. We get a really good young PG and salivate over a future starting lineup of Rondo, Burks, Hayward, Favors, and Kanter while the C’s get to keep their Big 3 while adding a decent PG and a legit low post scoring threat, something they don’t have. KG would even be a good front court partner for Big Al. And if it didn’t work out, it would be easy to blow up the next year.
None of the other ones would ever be accepted by the other team.
I've talked with a handful of Boston fans and writers who would know:
Rondo is only being traded if it brings Boston back a young superstar. Jefferson, Harris and even the Golden State pick wouldn’t be enough according to every Boston person I’ve asked.
The more you try to erase me, the more that I appear.
somehow i wondered onto this site
as a celtics fan the only way this trade happens is if we get favors and harris for oneal and rondo something like that

That's a horrible trade for the Jazz
Go Buffalo Bills, Utah Jazz, and Arkansas Razorbacks

no one wants harris
he has one of the worst contacts in the nba
we would only trade rondo for a young talented big man (like favors) and then sending along players to fill the holes (harris for us oneal for you)
Im not saying this is a good trade for the jazz Im just saying thats the only way we would trade rondo

I really like the idea of getting Rondo, but short term it would really hurt our team since Jefferson is our most reliable scoring option. In another year or two that trade would awesome.
The other trades that I would be interested in would be Andre Miller, but Denver would have no reason to do this trade unless we threw something else in. And we aren’t going to give up anything other than a second rounder for a temporary pg.
I also like the Suns trade, but Nash isn’t going anywhere unless it’s to a contender.

Trying to find realistic trades makes me kind of wistful for the glory days of the early 80's
We could easily find a a dumb GM willing to give up a young star, and maybe 2-3 guaranteed lottery picks too, for Devin Harris.
I got the crap beat out of me in Provo one time
Or Isiah Thomas?
I am in no way affiliated with the blog of the same name.
Does that mean
you want to acquire Isiah Thomas from the Kings, or that you wish Isiah Thomas was still a GM so we could fleece him?
Isiah Thomas from the Pistons != Isaiah Thomas with the Kings
The one with the Kings has the more culturally accepted number of vowels in his name.

Don't see any of those trades happening
some have tossed around Jamar Nelson for Harris straight up – but I don’t see how that is any kind of upgrade.
i did see this package (involving Nelson and Harris) as an interesting one to get a consistent three point threat . . . would you give up Miles for Reddick?

2011-2012 is our 2012-2013 pre-season
My dream trade:
Harris, Jefferson and the GSW pick for John Wall and Rashard Lewis. Absorbing Lewis’ contract is a a steep price…but I’d do it in a heartbeat. But no way Wizards would do it

you are correct
i doubt the wizards would take our entire team for Wall, even if it meant absorbing LEwis.

I shouldn't be surprised.........
but it made me laugh yesterday when people were texting into 1280 the zone, some of them dead serious (though I have to believe that some were TIC), saying that the Jazz should trade Harris for Jimmer. lol……..I love you BYU fans…………..so cute.
Anyway, I would like a guy like Lowry. I think that with this team, that is what we need now. We don’t need a guy who is useless without the ball, we need someone to get us into our offense and take advantage of scoring chances when they are presented. Watson and Tinsley are great at this. Harris? Not so much. I have to give him credit though, he is trying hard.
I love Raja Bell’s answer to the media yesterday about the trade rumors. I get so tired of the media. Why ask a guy what he thinks of trade rumors? I wish the media would just focus on the upcoming games and less on the day to day drama. Looking at you Brian T.!

Don't see why the Celtics would go for that
Also, I wouldn’t take any trade that doesn’t bring back another PG. I don’t trust Tinsley to play significant minutes, and I don’t think we can play Watson for more than 30 per night. By the way, there’s no way we’re getting Rondo, Lowry, Wall, or anyone of that caliber.
Celtics trade: not happening, Warriors trade: not worth it, Clippers trade: not happening (they don’t need another PG, we should have traded Memo for Mo. They need a 3rd big and Mo is their third PG), Suns: not happening, Nuggets: not happening, Mavs: not happening (although it would be ironic). I still think our most realistic option would be to bring back a guy like Jose Calderon. It’s tough to see how we get back a young, talented PG for Harris unless we include the GS pick or another player, like Millsap/ Jefferson/ Miles. It might be worthwhile, since there aren’t really any PGs in the upcoming draft that blow me away.
After watching the wolves play us tonight
I have to believe there is a way to get Kahn to trade us Harris and a bag of chips for Ricky Rubio. That kid can ball.

If only Kahn were that stupid
But Luke Ridnour might be a realistic option.
Ridnour can be a chucker though. Works much better as a 2 guard, in my opinion.

How about this trade
http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine
Have Watson start, and have Ben run the 2nd unit with Burks in the back court. He can bring scoring to 2nd unit lineup.

Really?
Even if it only cost us two guys who don’t factor into the long term plans of the team, you wouldn’t trade for the best center of the last 10 years? He would make us 10 games better probably.
The more you try to erase me, the more that I appear.
I have to admit that it would be fun, but no thanks.

Shaq is the best center of the last 10 years
Or maybe Tim Duncan, if he counts as a center. In any case, if I were Orlando I’d rather get Bynum than Al.
Portland needs a big and is stacked at the wing.
What do you guys think of Harris and a big, for Raymond Felton and Gerald Wallace?
by aPleasureToBurn on Jan 30, 2012 9:00 AM MST reply actions
I can't see Portland taking that
They won’t give up their starting PG for a third big and a washed up Harris. We need to look for a team that has 2-3 starting caliber PGs that needs a starting big man.
Harris for ANYBODY
Please make the deal already. I don’t care what we get back because the guy is worhtless right now yet Corbin keeps starting him. Start Watson and play Tinsley at back-up(we aren’t even sure what he can do yet). But he can’t be much worse. Maybe for good measure throw Miles and Bell in there too.
