What would you give for Cousins?
Just thought I'd throw this out there:
Although I never put much faith into their reporting, according to ESPN, Utah is one of the eight teams supposedly interested in Cousins. Who knows if/when he'll be available. However, for the sake of discussion, what would you be willing to trade for Cousins?
I know that many probably wouldn't trade a headache for Cousins, because that is what he is. However, his talent is there and a three-headed monster of Favors, Kanter and Cousins with his head on straight makes me see championship rings. I think on potential alone, I'd be willing to give up Harris and CJ without a thought. However, I'm sure it'd take much more to pry Cousins away, even if there are problems in Sacto. Would you be willing to give up Harris and Millsap or AJ?

I wouldn't want Cousins honestly.
I think he would probably be a terrible fit in Utah. Maybe someone like Sloan could get the best out of him, I honestly see them butting heads something fierce though, but I don’t think Ty needs that kind of headache. He is still trying to get his coaching legs under him and that would just be like throwing gasoline on a fire.
As much as I want Big Al out of Utah, I don’t know if I like replacing him with someone like Cousins.
Cousins reminds me a bit of Derrick Coleman
Super talented but too lazy, to work at it and a bit of a head case. You can’t win with guys who don’t want it and don’t have their head in the game.
I agree with hamfist, that I want Big Al out of Utah, but not for Cousins.
my guess
is the Jazz have no interest in Cousins, but realize if the Kings trade him away, they will be in need of a big man. The Jazz can unload Sap or Al while each one’s trade value has got to be pretty solid. Maybe get another solid first round draft pick, hopefully used on the PG of the future.
I agree
The only way that the Jazz would be interested in Cousins is as trade bait in a three way deal. I personally am hoping that the Jazz just stand pat. We need to wait and see how everything matures until the trade deadline. In addition, Jimmer is not the answer (plus I do not think the Kings want to trade him).

i don't understand why we would get rid of sap
al i understand. but sap, yes he is undersized, but still amazing.
i would never trade Sap. He is the last fan favorite. He works hard plays injured and earns his time and spot. He was on the bench to start this year and forced his way into the starting lineup by playing hard and being super aggressive. He teams well with any of our other bigs. He plays bigger than he is and works to be better.
trade value is huge
he will eventually be squeezed out with the growth of favors, kanter, and even evans. The FO might feel like they can strike while the iron is hot and get some good pieces in exchange. Not saying they should trade Sap before Al, but really I don’t think we could ignore the possibility for either if the price is right.
Evans is going to squeeze out Milsap?
Really? Have you watched the Jazz actually play before?

Why do people hate on Sap?
None of our young bigs outperform him. He even took his starting spot back from Favors. He is super efficient and cheap. Why get rid of a player like that for the chance that Kanter or Evans maybe, maybe, maybe, could be better?
Nobody hates Sap
Except davidthecomposer :)
But really, it’s about value: right now the Jazz would probably get a better return on a Millsap trade than anyone else. And why a trade at all? Because Kanter and Favors will be better. Favors, at least, may be already.

MAYBE Al. Oh, and Raja, of course.
But otherwise, I think if the Jazz got Cousins it would just open up a can of worms that Coach Ty wouldn’t like to have to handle.

By no measure is Favors better than Milsap
I like Favors and Kanter and I’m high on both of them but why trade the best player on the team who is still getting better for more time to unproven players. They could end up being busts or just decent players. Milsap is an allstar caliber player now and for the foreseeable future. I’d be fine with trading Al because he hogs all the shots on offense but trading Milsap would be a huge mistake.
By every defensive measure you can imagine, Favors is better than Millsap right now
I love Sap, and I honestly don’t think he’s going anywhere right now. But there are reasons to consider a trade—particularly since Sap would bring the best return.

You should check out basketball-reference and basketballvalue.com and see what they say.
The more you try to erase me, the more that I appear.
Interesting stuff
So yeah, defensive stats don’t say Favors is better right now.

I get what you're saying
But I think it’s a bit early to turn the team over to the young guys. They definately should get time on the court but to say to Favors “Ok you’re the man go lead this team” is premature. He’s looking great and I’d even like to see him get more time. Kanter too but I don’t want them to feel like they’ve got all the pressure in the world on them. That can crush young players. I think we stand pat for now and see how we develop as a team. For sure entertain trade offers but only pull the trigger on something that fills needs on the team and improves us overall.
i could really see this happening
but i think we would have to give up harris not watson and i would rather give up harris, we would have to take back some other contracts though to make it work

Harris and Jefferson for Rondo and Jermain Oneal. That’s the only way I can think of to make work.

Correction
Boston gets Harris and Cousins, we get Rondo, The Kings get Jefferson and a 1st rnd pick from Boston. The Kings would have to get a pick back to even consider it, and there is no way we give up one of our picks if we are giving away Jefferson and Harris.

I don't know if the Kinds or the Celts bite on that.
But I would do that in a heartbeat. So I am not convinced it would go through.
Sadly, I agree
The Celtics might consider it since they still get a decent PG, and they get a young gifted big man with tons of potential. I dont think it puts them over the top this year, but maybe they feel they need to start the rebuilding process. The kings might consider it if they really believe that Cousins is that unhappy. They get a replacement big with Jefferson who is more refined and ready to contribute immediately plus another pick. I actually dont think the Jazz would bite on that trade. Al is our only offensive force right now, so we would actually get worse.

Too bad he is such a disaster off the court
the guy is putting up 15 and 10 in just 25 minutes.
