I loved Kyle in college..
Hes a good passer…just had 18 ast against the Hawks. Didnt see too much of Flynn. Ill have to check him out. And i remember Dragic having some good games against us.

Im that one guy that did that one thing at that one place that one time...
Love it.
Lowry is a stud, and for some reason I just don’t think that Harris is a great fit with the Jazz. He has a good 3pt%, passes well, and is a decent defender (at least steals wise). I am interested to hear what some of the basketball smart people think about this. Maybe Big Al and Devin Harris for Lowry and another piece? trade machine is down, so I can’t match up salaries on my own…too lazy.
Some of us
(Clark and I are two I know of off hand) have been dreaming of this for almost 10 months.
I got the crap beat out of me in Provo one time
Also Kyle looks like Mase...lol

But so do the Rockets. In fact, I’d say he is the least likely piece on their roster to be traded. Which is a shame because he is young, smart and would fit well with the Jazz.
However if the Rockets keep stinking it up, they’re the sort of team that will make trades to get better. I’m not sure Al for Lowry would work for them, but at least it’s a start.
I think that is a distinct possiblity during the offseason. That would make us better.
The more you try to erase me, the more that I appear.
I would be happy with this trade.
But I would be happier if it didn’t involve the draft pick, and if we could somehow ship Big Al.
Lowry = yes
Flynn = No.
Lowry is a talented, smart young player. Flynn is sort of an airhead and a whiner.

if we can get lowry,
do it. I wouldn’t trade a bag of pruins for Dragic or Flynn.
Love the Jazz, Utes, and BoSox.

I actually really like Dragic, and think he could be a decent starting pg if he was in the right situation. I dont think I would ever trade for him to be my starting pg though.

Everyone hates Al
I want to know (legitimately) why
He is not Hakeem Olajuwon but who is?
No one hates Al, it’s his game we hate. He’s a ball hog that ruins the flow of our offense. It’s as simple as that.
by TurboJazz224 on Jan 10, 2012 8:58 AM MST up reply actions
He has been in the past that is true. Lately he is improving in that regard by leaps and bounds. Thing is he is told by the coaches to shoot first and ask questions later. Part of it is Al’s game and I gotta think part of it is the Coach’s game.

No one hates Al, but to sum him up in a word it's efficiency or the lack therof
Per 82games.com when Al is on the court we are a collective -10.3 points per 100 possessions. When he’s off the court we are a collective +4.3 points per 100 possessions.
He was brought here to replace Carlos Boozer, play under Jerry Sloan and play with Deron Williams. All of those things have changed. We now have (2) #3 overall draft picks that play his position and need playing time.
He’s also one of our biggest trade chips, hence the trade rumors.

I am one of big Al's greatest advocates
As a person, I love his attitude and commitment. But over the year the efficiency, effectiveness, and lack of improvement as to the little things (boxing out, defensive rotations, passing, etc.) have left me soft on him.
He is a huge part of this team and I feel very needed right now. But unless he can improve thosd intangibles and his efficiency over the course of this season – I think he and Harris become our best trade asset for perhaps something special.
I still have dreams of getting Dwill back with this group . . .

Getting D-Will back would be a dream come true!
Also, Jefferson is getting better but he still is a negative +- on the court. Without him we would have win ugly defensive minded games.

I actually think he has improved in all of the areas that you say he is lacking improvement.
He is never going to be a great defender, but he is doing better at it. His passing isn’t great, but it is better than it was. As for his efficiency, after the Lakers game he has been good there other than the G-State game and even in that game he hit the big shot to tie the game in the last minute.
Very good points
I would like to see much less Al bashing here – by some of the mods – and especially on game threads. He deserves much better. There has been much more love and passion for past players who didn’t have half the heart, commitment, or desire to win as Al Jefferson . . .

Rondo!
He’s better defensively and he’s got a ring (knows what it takes to win).

Rondo, for sure. I love his D and I think he is a leader.

Well...
Everything I’ve read indicates that Lowry is every bit as good as Rondo Defensively. He is also shooting the lights out this season, and unlike Rondo, I don’t think he’s hit his ceiling. My Heirarchy of semi-attainable PG’s Lowry, Conley, Rondo, Collison, Holiday, Stuckey, Hill. I don’t think I’m forgetting anyone.
I think Rondo is a better player than Lowry but
I would rather have Lowry. I think part of what makes Rondo effective is he can create for good jump shooters like Ray and PP, but if we don’t have guys hitting 3s around him, I don’t think he would be as good for us as Lowry. I also don’t think we have a shot at either guy though,
Ill take Lowry
Its hard to say how successful Rondo would be w/o Hall of Famers around him. and Lowry brings a scoring threat that is always nice to have at the 1.
I'd take either Rondo or Lowry, but I doubt either of them are going anywhere.
Also, even though Jefferson may be somewhat inefficient, he is one of only a handful of players in the NBA who is a true low post scorer. Until one of our other players can replace his low post scoring, the Jazz need him on the team. Hopefully, Favors or Kanter can eventually become that guy, but they’re both several years away from being that guy, and unfortunately, because of his lack of stature, Millsap can never be that guy.
The best we can hope is that Jefferson will continue to have a good attitude about trying to develop his game, especially his low post passing game, so he isn’t such a black hole in the post (and which will also help his efficiency). However, his role on this team is to get the ball on the low post and score, so we shouldn’t criticize him for doing that.
by Fesenko for President on Jan 10, 2012 11:32 AM MST reply actions
I have to agree
As angry as the black holes makes me, he really is our only “go to” man on the team. If we didn’t have him we would REALLY struggle to score points.
by TurboJazz224 on Jan 10, 2012 11:44 AM MST up reply actions
Yes, I don't see the Jazz moving Jefferson any time soon.
We need him right now to run our offense (inside out). Also as you mentioned, Kanter and Favors are still offensively raw. Jefferson is one of the best low post scorers and hopefully either through mentoring, example or just plain osmosis, Kanter and Favors can learn some offensive moves from him.
by socaljazzfan on Jan 10, 2012 11:51 AM MST up reply actions
Very, very, good point
There are those here who feel it’s time to give Favors the rock and eun the offense through him which I completely disagree right now. Al has a very special and unequaled ability in the post in this league. If he could learn to be a good passer and work on the other parts of his game that need work (which he still seems to want to do) he could still be a very, very special player. Especially with Favors at his side focusing on being the defensive monster he is. Let’s keep that focus for Favors up for awhile.

I'd take Lowry
Rondo might be a slightly better defender, but they’re both bulldogs. Lowry makes up for it in shooting, especially from deep and from the line. Rondo’s assist numbers are artificially inflated because of the team he plays on. I think they’re pretty comparable passers. That said, I don’t think either team is looking to trade them. Houston probably wouldn’t trade Lowry straight up for Al, let alone give us a pick. They might take Al and the GS pick, but I highly doubt that as well. A more realistic trade might be Kanter + pick for Lowry, but if I’m the Jazz I wouldn’t take that.
On second thought
Lowry is posting a 26.5 PER for the season. If we were going to make a move for him, it should have been in the off-season. At this point, the Rockets wouldn’t give him for all of King Midas’s silver. Dragic has nearly a 20 PER in limited minutes. Maybe my opinion of him is unrealistic from that time he put up like 40 on us, but I’d trade Al or Harris for him and spare parts (maybe Dragic + Lee + Dalembert’s corpse for Al, or something like that).
Yeah, no way Al gets Lowry. And I would never trade Kanter for Lowry. Never trade a big man for a small, especially when the big is still young and showing tons of potential.
by TurboJazz224 on Jan 10, 2012 3:33 PM MST up reply actions
It they traded Kanter at this point I would totally revolt.
I have no idea what his ceiling is, but it is obvious dude will be a legit player in the NBA.
Nothing against Big Al
He is one of the best post players in the league and a top 10 Center. Unfortunately he lacks defensive instinct and the Jazz just need their PG of the future much more than we need what Big Al brings to the table.
I still think we end up trading Millsap
I personally would be pretty heartbroken if the Jazz traded Millsap and kept Al.
Millsap accepting a 6th man role is my dream, and him retiring as a Jazz man. He exemplifies everything the Jazz SHOULD stand for. But if the Jazz trade Millsap and get enough back for him, I would understand. If they trade him for a second round pick, to free up more playing time for the young guys while Al still gets his 19 shots to get 20 points, I would not be pleased.
I think Millsap is more tradable than Al, unfortunately.
I love Al
but I would trade Al and Devin for Lowry and some other piece if it were realistic.
I think with Lowry the Jazz would be pretty scary. He would be perfect.

Rondo
I love Lowry, but I still think Rondo is the better player. I also think the Rockets are not willing to consider trading Lowry while the Celtics have expressed interest in trading Rondo. I say we give Jefferson and Harris to get Rondo and maybe O’Neal or a pick.
Plus, the Celts are a mess this year.
They might actually consider giving him up for some solid assets
