Favors - Center or PF

I am a pretty casual fan, but I have seen a ton of posts that talk about Millsap and Favors as being incompatible players. I know Favors considered himself to be a bit more of a PF than a C, but how big of a difference does positioning actually make (that is an honest, not a hypothetical question)? When I think of center, I think of someone who is a defensive anchor with a strong post game - how does that not describe Favors? I know he is a hair short, but his wingspan, speed, and instincts would seem to cover the 2-4 inches that he loses to the majority of starting centers. Am I totally off base here? I can see a future with Kanter, Favors and Millsap splitting the 96 minutes reserved for the PF and C. I could easily see ~30 minutes at PF for Millsap, ~18 for Favors at PF, 30 for Kanter at C, and ~18 for Favors at C. Can a player be that flexible?
