How to best utilize our lineups

I feel one our biggest problems is our lineups and how we utilize them. I wanted to see how we could put people in the best position to succeed. Each players have their own strengths and weaknesses so we are going to have to utilize how we deal with those players weaknesses with who we put in the lineup with them. To me 9 players should play Mo, Marv, Gordo, Millsap, Favors, Al, Foye, Burks, Kanter. But lets just not let them play lets put them in positions to succeed. Lets put them with players that can do well together.

My starting 5 is this. Mo, Gordon, Marvin, Favors, Jefferson- Why? We need to see more Favors P&R. The two best players to do this are Gordon and Mo. Mo needs to do better cause he has Favors open a lot and it does not work if he does not get Favors the ball obviously. Hayward ran a P&R with Favors last night and it was beautiful! Seeing this more would be awesome

I want more mixing and matching. This bench unit then starting unit is not smart. So at 6 mins into the 1st quarter we make a sub. We sub out Gordon for Foye. This allows Foye to play some two guard next to Mo. You also have the three new wings that are used to spotting up for three on the floor at the same time and then this is when you give Al the ball in the post and let him go to work. You have three guys who are willing and able to spot up and honestly it is what they do best. Then with 3 mins left in the quarter we throw in Paul for Al. So Favors slides over to the 5 for the final 3 mins. This unit finishes the quarter.

1st Quarter

(Mo 12 mins, Gordon 6 mins, Marvin 12 mins, Favors 12 mins, Al 9 mins, Foye 6 mins, Paul 3 mins)

The start of the 2nd quarter comes and we put in Kanter, Gordon and Burks. So the lineup is now Foye, Burks, Gordon, Paul, Kanter. This unit allows us to do multiple things. We have three people that can control the ball so the ball does not stop in Foye or Burks hands. All these players can play out on the perimeter even Paul which gives plenty of room for Kanter to work. Which honestly he is just not getting and could be part of the problem. Cause I do not think Evans, Carrol or Tinsley are outside threats and no one else in this league does either and that has been a huge problem! So we get these people on here to stretch the floor for Kanter not just Al. At the 6 min mark comes the first change. We take out Foye for Mo. At the 5 min mark we put Al in for Kanter. At the 4 min mark Marvin comes in for Burks. Then this lineup finishes out the half

2nd Quarter

(Mo 6 mins, Gordon 12 mins, Marvin 4 mins, Al 5 mins, Kanter 7 mins, Burks 8 mins, Foye 6 mins Paul 12 mins)

To start the 3rd quarter we are going to do the same thing and we are going to give the same people the same amount of mins. So the third quarter sub patterns are the same

3rd Quarter

(Mo 12 mins, Gordon 6 mins, Marvin 12 mins, Favors 12 mins, Al 9 mins, Foye 6 mins, Paul 3 mins)

The 4th quarter is where the changes come and the ending lineup will change then what it was to go into the half. Obviously this could change if someone is extremely hot one day. Like when Foye was hot and so Marvin went to the bench so Hayward could finish. But the changes are going to be the same as far as Kanter and Foye go. They are going to come out the same time that they did in the 3rd quarter. The change will be the last sub of Burks. He will come out but Marvin will not come in. Favors will come in for Burks. Because of this our big lineup is only going to play 4 mins together but it is going to be the most important of the whole game.

4th Quarter

(Mo 6 mins, Gordon 12 mins, Al 5 mins, Kanter 7 mins, Burks 8 mins, Foye 6 mins, Paul 12 mins, Favors 4 mins.)

Minutes PG- Mo 36 Foye 12

SG- Gordon 20 Burks 16 Foye 12

SF- Marvin 28 Gordon 16 Paul 4

PF- Favors 24 Paul 24

C- Al 28 Kanter 14 Favors 6

Final Mins- Mo – 36

Gordon – 36

Favors – 30

Marvin – 28

Al – 28

Paul – 28

Foye – 24

Burks – 16

Kanter – 14
