A short rant...

Where do I begin... This week has encompassed my most memorable fan moment of the season watching Mo sink that 3, and also my most utterly disappointing after 2 cringe-worthy losses. I realize there are highs and lows to every season, but this was Everest next to the Marianas trench. There are 3 important observations from this stretch of three games:

1. The next time Jamal Tinsley takes 8 shots, he should retire. I haven't been this frustrated watching a basketball player since my sister played 1 on 1 with my mom in the driveway. Get this guy off the court, seriously. Our PG situation is dismal enough as it is, do we really need to be pouring salt in our wounds by letting Tinsley brick 12 footers all night while we're down by 10?

2. The "where's Borko" situation isn't about Randy Foye. It's about Watson and Tinsley. For an organization that has been open to lineup experimentation, why don't we play Burks/Hayward/DMC in the backcourt? We haven't even TRIED it yet. It's a good defensive lineup, a good lineup in transition, and a lineup that will play with energy. Exactly what you want off the bench. I'm tired of seeing half-assed, half-court sets where the opposing PG just backs off 5 feet away from Tinsley and dares him to pop off wide open practice shots. PnR doesn't work without a double threat PG. People will say "well Burks has low assist numbers, I don't think he is a 1 guard." Hayward is the ball handler. Maybe when Burks gets more comfortable he can try running some sets. Burks and Hayward are great at getting to the basket, and breaking down defenses helps everyone on this team.

3. Our PnR game is pretty lackluster without a good PG to run it. Our starting PG isn't going to change during the course of this season, but I think we could be running Hayward in the PnR a little more. Hayward has been struggling a little bit lately, and reducing him to a pure jumpshooter isn't really helping. He's a slasher, and he is a great playmaker. What's more is that Mo Williams is twice the spot-up shooter that Hayward is, yet Mo is running the PnR and Hayward is camping out in the corner. If anyone has some synergy stats to prove/disprove this idea I would like to see it! Hayward's PnR stats, I mean.

Anyway, I felt like I had to get a rant off my chest since I am out of the country this week and didn't have any of my friends awake to talk about the game.

Cheers, stay strong brothers.
