I am not a huge Utah Jazz fan, I am not really a fan of any one team since my Sonics left their home town. I do think the Jazz are really interesting though. They are a good, young team with a lot of front court talent. I have Paul Millsap on my fantasy team which makes me all the more interested in the situation.
I think that a Millsap for Jose Calderon trade makes great sense for both teams. The Jazz get a great distributor in return for Millsap and unlock the front court logjam. I know Calderon isn't a sexy name but look below the name and look at his production. Calderon averaged 11.8 assists per game during the time that Kyle Lowry was out. Calderon put up assist games of 11, 17, 10, 9, and 18 back to back to back. Calderon is 31 years old so while not young he isn't particularly old either. He'd be a great 3-4 year bridge to the next pg and has a real ability to feed the post. His presence would improve the games of Favors, Kanter, and Big Al almost instantly. Let's be honest. Mo Williams can't create like Calderon, no matter what stigma you have about Calderon.
The best part about Calderon is that he'll be available. This is a deal that could be done right now. Calderon is available and I think the Jazz could probably get a wing player like Terrence Ross with Calderon. This is a realistic option that would be a good fit.
I'd envision a starting lineup of:
PG - Calderon
SG - Mo Williams
SF - Carrol
PF - Favors
C - Jefferson
You guys know your team better than I do so please let me know your take! I really think this would be a win-win for both teams. If not Calderon, who else are you guys targeting in return for Millsap?
