I'll just be flat out honest. I don't like the guy. I believe you can tell a person or the GM by the move he makes. Like the boneheaded move to snatch Carlos Boozer away from the Cavs organization. It just shows that KOC will do ANYTHING to get a player. And one might argue that he did nothing wrong and that if that's what it takes to get good players, so be it. Well, I hate his mentality and his thought process. He forgot that what goes around comes around.
KOC, you knew that Boozer had to dishonor his words and compromise his integrity when he sneaked behind the Cavs organization to sign with the Jazz. And you had no problem with such a player joining our organization? Well, I don't like a player who plays life like that because his character showed come playoff time.
KOC seems like a sneezy businessman type GM. No honor, no integrity.
Second, I HATE his draft philosophy: pick the best player on the board. What is this? So, if the draft happens that a big man is the best player on the board, we keep picking bigs? And what guarantee is there that that person is the best player at that spot? NONE. It's completely speculation. One of the dumbest philosophies out there. It's a risky move and that's how KOC plays. Risk over stability. Buying lottery tickets over investing in a bond. Gambling over saving money.
What's more pertinent and wise is to pick correct pieces to fit the team. Pick players that will fit the system, the family. That's why I respect RC Buford. He picks players that will fit the system, rather than go off the whole speculative business. KOC picked Kanter and Burks at 3 and 12. I mean, I like Kanter and Burks but Buford got Leonard at 15. I say Buford made the most out of his pick.
Lastly, he's horrible at judging character. D.Will is a good player. I don't hate him, but no player gets into shouting matches with a Hall of Fame coach. I don't care how badly you want to win, or how popular you are, there's a line and a better way to communicate. The issue has nothing to do with the desire to win, it's about RESPECT. KOC goes off the whole physical qualities than going after the heart of players. It's like a tech nerd drooling over specs of a device, it's like judging a person by their outer appearance, book by its cover. For example, if I were KOC, I would've picked Chris Paul over D.Will any day. KOC's logic on picking D.Will over Chris Paul is flawed and elementary. "D.Will is bigger so he's the better defender." Wrong. Chris Paul is the better defender. "D.Will has size so he won't get injured." Wrong. Injury has nothing to do with a players physique. You judge a player by their heart, not their physical qualities. (This is the same KOC that drafted Raul Lopez over Tony Parker)
I've gone off again. But let me just reiterate my sentiments. I don't like KOC and I would like to see him go. Bring in someone with more class, integrity, and honor. Because that kind of GM will have a better vision of who to pick and want kind of players to bring in.
