I'm just going to say it. He makes almost twice as much as Marvin and he ain't twice as good. And I doubt Philly is trading him anyway, although Philly's board certainly has posters who WANT him traded, but for Favors, not Al or Sap.
If we trade Al or Sap for Iggy I guess Marvin now plays a lot of 4 (which kind of defeats the purpose)? If it's Al is Kanter ready yet? No. If it's Al, Fav has to play the 5...Fav-Sap-Iggy-G-Mo, Kant-Marv-Burks-Foye off bench isn't horrible at all, but is it more of a title threat then what we have now? No. And I think adding Iggy would cut into Burks' time even more.
If it's Sap, Al-Fav-Iggy-G-Mo, Kant-Marv-Burks-Foye off the bench is much better (EDIT: in fact it looks better the more I look at it). This works http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=cxtl6tx but Philly prolly would want the GS pick (no way Jose). And when did Iggy become so much better than Sap anyway?
Did I mention that Iggy makes almost TWICE what Marvin does? 33% career 3pt shooter who shot 39% last year? Hello, regression. I went through the 82games numbers; he is clearly better than Marv, but no way by the $$$ difference, and he's not as good as Sap ESP by the $$$.
I'd just as soon stand pat and see how it meshes. Maybe Sap accepts being 6th man for a frontloaded 4/40. Maybe Al's a good sport who knows what time it is and has a good contract year before signing with New Orleans. And if it craters we'll have plenty of deadline offers.
Hey, I was posting Pau Gasol trades all over the place, so I'm not criticizing; just gonna be the first to say it ain't happening (Philly FO gonna want too much) and I don't want it to happen.
