There has been a lot of debate about the Foye signing on this website. My initial reaction would be that he would take the SG minutes away from Burk which would leave Burks with no real role on the team. But after time I have become mildly optimistic that the Foye signing will work out. Its conditional on one thing, that Burks and Foye play together with Foye playing point guard. Foye was never a great point guard because of his turnovers, passing, and decision making. This forced him to change his role from a point guard to more of a shooting guard where he excelled at the spot up 3. Burks on the other hand is a great ball handler and passer but lacks a great outside shot right now which is mandatory to be a great shooting guard. Basically Foye is a point guard who plays like a shooting guard, and Burks is a shooting guard that plays more like a point guard. If you play them together they would compliment each other very well. Allow Burks to bring the ball down the court and play a little PnR. Foye could play a little more off the ball and maintain floor spacing and consistent threat from 3. This would also make the jazz defense a lot better as well. Foye has not been great at guarding shooting guards but is above average at guarding point guards. Allowing Foye to play his more natural defensive position would really help the jazz with one of the thing they struggled with the most guarding the other teams point guard. This would also be a very sneaky way for the FO to kind of test Burks to see if he is capable of being the future point guard without overwhelming him. If Burks and Foye do play together then I think the second unit for the jazz will be dominate and we will really be able to see Burks grow with the ball in his hand. But what do you think? Does the FO agree with me or did they sign Foye to compete with Burks for SG min? would you like the see a Foye Burks back court?
