I was listening to Locke and his talk about the possible availability of James Harden. My wheels started turning and this is what came out:
OKC trades Harden and salary filler
Jazz trade Millsap and Kanter
Really, I'm not the biggest Harden fan. However, everyone seems to love him and he seems to have a good head on his shoulders. Obviously, that could potentially give us a Harden/Burks conflict. However, Harden is a playmaker and could even run point, perhaps, on offense while Burks guards the PGs on D.
I don't know if OKC even finishes the conversation without hanging up. But they get a solid starter/great 6th man in Millsap and a potential great Perkins replacement in Kanter. They have some flexibility going forward with signing Millsap cheaper for long term and getting rid of Old (looking) Man Perkins and his horrid contract. A front court of Durrant, Millsap and Ibaka is pretty great.
Obviously, Jefferson could be substituted for Millsap. But he's more expensive--although he may be a better fit for OKC with Ibaka. I'd say a core four of Harden, Burks, Hayward and Favors is better than our core four now. Harden gives us a star wing who can score from anywhere. He's also young. I figure, they might lose Harden anyways and we might lose Millsap. This way, neither loses a player with nothing to show for it.
Anyways, just a musing of mine. Thoughts?
