I'm a big AK fan and a bigger Jazz fan. I know I'm not alone when i say that I'm really happy for him and his play in the Olympics. This is the AK we all were big fans of when he was playing for the Jazz.
Up to now, there are a lot of people who say that he didn't live up to his potential or that he wasn't durable enough after he signed his max contract. Personally speaking, he more than deserved the max contract he got after his memorable showing in the 2003 - 2004 season. He was handed the keys to the franchise after Stockton retired and Malone left and he embraced the role. It wasn't his fault that his production dropped after the Jazz eventually got Deron and company. He was forced to play outside his comfort zone. That's why I don't get why he still has a lot of so called haters. Anyone who watched Jazz games could see that whenever he was playing, he was giving it his all. He could have "shut himself down" and asked to be traded. But he didn't. He didn't hold the Jazz hostage like "star" players do these days. That should count for a whole lot. We wanted to see him succeed within the system. It just didn't work out like we all wanted it to and it wasn't Andrei's fault.
It's gonna be bittersweet seeing him flourish with a division "rival." But at this point, seeing that slightly edges seeing him being inevitably misused by the Jazz. So Jazz fans, when the Wolves come to town, please give Andrei the ovation he more than deserves. I know if I were there, I would.
Let's go Jazz!!
