Anyone still drinking the Jazz kool aid? Look, I think a lot of fans kind of expected that the Jazz would make a jump this year. (After all we now have Foye, Williams and Williams. Oh Williams is out? then we still have Foye & Williams-yeah.) I think the point being that the Jazz made the playoffs last year, their younger group would get better, the Jazz improved their perimeter shooting, at least that is what they told us. Wake up everyone, this team just isn't that good and the Jazz have major work to do to even get back into the competing for a championship category. I will give it to them, they are trying to squeeze everything out of their current expiring vets to get into the playoffs-whatever that means? which is nothing come next year. Even the band wagon Jazz fans jumped off along time ago. It's been awhile since I seen that many empty seats at the ESA. Am I starting to miss Okur, Williams, AK & Booze????? Yes I am.
The Jazz have been passed, if not in the standings, then in player additions by other teams. Even New Orleans has a better core at this point. Davis, Vasquez, Gordon, Aminu, Lopez, Anderson & there first round pick this year. Houston passed us when they got Harden & they still have cap room to do other things. Golden State? bye, bye......and I haven't even mentioned Denver, the Clips or OKC yet........Portland? Aldridge, Batum, Leonard, Lillard. It's not looking good people.
The Jazz front office & PR machine wants you to keep drinking the kool aid. Please don't take off the rose colored glasses, otherwise, you might question the following over and over: The D-Will trade (what we got in return which could amount to no All-star. Case in point that great G. state pick this year!), the addition of Al Jefferson, the teams ability to draft-see what we got in return from D-Will after we drafted, Harris over Marvin-much to do about nothing it seems, the teams ability to sign free agents with all this future cap room, the coaching staffs ability to change previous Jazz defensive tendencies & systems, shall I go on?
Dare I say it? Other than Hayward, which we drafted while D-Will was still here, what did the Jazz get at this point? Potential. Give it to us straight Jazz, you have potential....well so does everyone else in the NBA. But potential is something Jazz fans can believe in, potential tastes like the best kool aid that you have ever drank on a very hot and humid day and it sure makes me want to wear my freaking shades under the bright Jazz sun right NOW. It's only when my shades slip off that I look around and see this cold, stinky inversion that currently resides here. It's not very bright, it's not very sunny, it smells and you can't even go outside. Yes, that is the state of our Utah Jazz.
I say pull the lawn chair up in front of the TV tonight, put your shades back on and enjoy some SUN per the Jazz front office. There is nothing but sunny skies ahead everyone and please enjoy the kool aid courtesy of Jazz management & the coaching staff.
