Well it looks like Burke has had one more setback on his way to rookie of the year. His finger break is likely to have a 12 week recovery time after surgery and even then he may have long term problems getting his game back. Even when he comes back, his effectiveness this year will be zero.
This fits well with Dennis Lindsey's tank mode. JL III is Mo lite and the more I see Burke, the more he looks like Mo Jr. The Jazz let Mo go for a reason. He's not a point guard that can help a team win unless it's in a limited backup roll.
So now we're stuck with JL III's "is it my turn to shoot" PG style of play. He's bounced around so much in the NBA and overseas he must be dizzy by now, but DL loves him. Really! The Jazz should just start JL III with Machado and Hudson as backup PG's, especially because Neto needs more time to steep in the highly competitive Euro leagues before he's ready for the NBA. Oh, I think that's already the game plan!
Lindsey said it would be unethical to bring Raul Neto over from Europe because his team is in a rebuilding mode and needs him. Wow, does Lindsey actually think fans are this stupid. If Neto is too valuable to his Euro team this year, why is he going to be available next year---or ever for that matter? Neto's team has already said he's available--cost around $500K. So I guess Neto isn't the center piece yet.
The more Burke looks like he needs two years of experience before he's ready to start, the worse Lindsey looks for his decision to move up to take Burke. Burke may never be a prime time NBA point guard. Like I said, he's looking a little too much like Mo for me.
Well, at least we'll get to see the young guys play the whole game regardless of the score. If pre-season is any predictor of the future (yeah, I know pre-season summer league, etc) then Favors will set a record for fouls, Kanter will get chewed out by Corbin like his name was Ostertag, fans will demand that Burks be named an All Star, R Jefferson will revive his career and Hayward will score 30 one game and 8 the next like he has multiple personalities that range between James Harden and Marvin Williams.
I hope I'm not the one that needs counseling after going through a tank prioritized season.
