Week 4 has passed (we're already almost a month into the season?!?) and the Jazz are still sitting with a lone victory on the left side of the stat sheet. This doesn't mean, however, that the Jazz are unbettable! Utah posted a 2-1 week against the spread (1/2 over/under) to bring their overall record to 6-7-1 (5/9 over/under). Let's see how we got there.
Golden State 98, Jazz 87 (Jazz were +9, O/U was 195.5). The Jazz really had no right even challenging a cover here being down 23 with about 3 minutes left. Ian Clark decided to make the bettors sweat a bit before the clock finally ran out on the Jazz a couple points short of a cover. A 36 point first half by Utah and a 39 point second half by the Warriors sealed it for the under as well.

New Orleans 105, Jazz 98 (Jazz were +10.5, O/U 194.5). Throughout the game it appeared the Jazz would cover with no problem, even leading in the third quarter. A couple of big runs in the fourth would put the Pelicans up 14 with 90 seconds to go. Some solid D, a Richard Jefferson triple, and two Tyreke Evans free throw misses would give the Jazz the money in this one. Balanced scoring and a big second half by both teams would kick this one over in the end as well.

Mavericks 103, Jazz 93 (Jazz were +11.5, O/U 202.5). Apparently our scoring outburst in New Orleans made the line makers believe in our offense. Oops. A 34-point first half locked things up early for the under, or so it seemed. As the Jazz would dig a 28-point hole with ease, it looked like Dallas the under was the pick to click. Just another reason I couldn't handle gambling on the NBA. The pitiful Jazz decided to pull some magic out of their hats and somehow get this game down to 5 with under 5 minutes to play. Sadly, that was as close as they'd get. More importantly, however, a 12 point Dallas lead was cut to 10 on two Marvin Williams free throws with 49 seconds left, and the Jazz D would hold on for the 'victory.' Jazz and under gets you the point.

Next week we'll have 4 games to pick (at the Thunder, vs. the Bulls, vs. the Suns, then back at the Suns). Wondering if we'll see the Jazz as a favorite for the first time this season. Also curious to see what the Rose injury does to the line (we'll still be a significant underdog, imo). Happy Thanksgiving this week, but don't forget to make your picks before and after the holiday!
