We have 5 young lottery picks on our team, all under 23, and clearly the future of the team. All have some great skills but also weaknesses and prone to making mistakes. 2 bigs, 2 wings, 1 true PG.
But in the 3 games available as a unit, total 144 minutes of game time, the coach has played them together a grand total of, wait for it, drum roll please, ZERO minutes. Kind of hard to believe isn't it?
Can they play well together? How can we ever know? We won't try. Do they need a veteran like Jefferson or Lucas or Williams on the court with them at all times to hold their hand? I don't know but the results haven't been too good so far have they? While we see flashes, our team play seems to be getting worse not better.
I say let's try them together for the first 8 and last 4 minutes of every half. Maybe more even. What's the worst that could happen? We go 1 and 14 and have the 29th worst offensive and defensive rating in the league? At least we would know it isn't working and make the correct personnel decisions going forward. Isn't this the Season of Discovery?
So what is the over/under minutes on the court together tonight? Assuming Kanter is playing? 5?
