In the spirit of Christmas, I wanted to start a discussion on all of the good things that are going on in Jazz land. I know that not everyone who frequents SLCDunk is happy with the state of the team, and that's okay, but we're all still Jazz fans so let's take a minute and talk about what makes our team great.
I'll get it started:
I love our Jazz history. We may not have won a championship yet, but we've had the privilege of witnessing some of the best people in the NBA as a part of our team. Players like Pistol Pete, Adrian Dantley, Stockton, Malone, Kirilenko, Deron, and others have all spent time on the Jazz and have represented us well. We have an historically great coach in Sloan. Hot Rod Hundley was a brilliant announcer for so many years. And, of course, Larry Miller was one of the most passionate and devoted owners in the league.
We have so much information. Great people, from both inside and outside of the organization, work hard to give us fans something Jazz related to talk about all year long. From Amar and the writers here at SLC Dunk, to David Locke, to Jody Genessy and Aaron Falk, and many others, we get a lot of Jazz content. It's awesome.
I've seen growth this season. Favors has been playing up to his new contract, and seems to be on the path to outplaying it. Hayward is showing us just how versatile his game can be. Burks, Kanter, and Burke are all showing that they're legitimate threats, and we're bound to see even more growth. But I'm not just talking about the players. We watched Dennis Lindsey take the reins as GM and wow us with his first draft. Corbin (controversial figure that he is) has shown growth in his game to game adjustments. The whole organization is growing and improving, and we get to watch it unfold.
Of course, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and you may disagree with me about some of the things I've listed, if that's the case, list your own positives. Be happy to be a Jazz fan.
I would like this post to stay completely positive so please resist posting back-handed, sarcastic, or cynical comments that detract from a feeling of good will.
