The Bungling of the Core 4.

Right now the Jazz sit precariously at #7 in the West, with 3 teams well within striking distance. Recently the Jazz have been playing poorly, getting blown out and *barely* scraping wins out. Meanwhile, 2 of the teams behind them (Rockets, Lakers) have been playing well and show signs of life - especially the surging Lakers, who seem to have found like with Earl Clark.

The Jazz have 30 games remaining on the schedule; 16 home games and 14 away games. I believe we 18 of our remaining games are against teams currently sitting in playoff spots, and this year we have performed horribly against good teams. The next 6 games are OKC, T-Wolves, Golden State, Clippers, Celtics, and Hawks. I can't find more than 3 wins out of those games, and that's if the Jazz play extremely well. If they play like they have been lately, it's very possible we lose all 6, which would give us an 8-game losing streak.

I'm not trying to be grim here, but there is a very real possibility we miss the playoffs. The rest of our schedule is pretty tough, and the Jazz have been playing poorly of late. Missing the playoffs while the young guys get fewer minutes than last year (or *barely* more, in the case of Favors and Kanter) would be an even bigger failure than what the front office did last season (and failed to do this offseason). We are riding vets on expiring contracts, and right now they're dragging us off a cliff.

If this team misses the playoffs while giving Favors 21 MPG, Hayward 26 MPG, Kanter 14 MPG, and Burks 15 MPG (with about 20 DNP's)...

I can't even express how massively disappointing that would be. If they had been giving the young guys valuable experience all season, 20-25 minutes for Kanter/Burks and 30-35 for Hayward/Favors and they missed the playoffs, I'd be fine with that. They get their growing pains out of the way, build chemistry, and are hungry to win.

But this... stunting the growth of our 4 most important players so we can make a "playoff push" that looks like it's not very likely...

The front office failed us last year (IMO). They failed us in the offseason. They failed us all year with the playing time of the C4. The very real possibility of going on an 8-game losing streak terrifies me, because I worry that the front office will blame the young guys and either trade them or give them fewer minutes.

Guys, I'm scared.
