Breaking News Jazz Assistant Coach Sidney Lowe arrest confirmed for not filing taxes

I do not know who broke this story first (either locally in Utah, or locally in North Carolina); but Utah Jazz assistant coach Sidney Lowe 's arrest was confirmed by a multitude of sources. North Carolina ESPN affiliate 99.9 The Fan has the story here:

Wake Forest, N.C. — Sidney Lowe, former head men's basketball coach at North Carolina State University, was arrested Monday for failure to file state tax returns for 2009, 2010 and 2011.

Lowe, who coached the Wolfpack from 2006-2011, is currently an assistant coach with the NBA's Utah Jazz. At the time of his departure from State, he was making $500,000 per year.

He maintains a home in Wake Forest.

He faces three misdemeanor counts of willful failure to file a North Caroline Individual Income Tax Return and was placed under $10,000 bond. A court appearance was scheduled for March 19.

Lowe, a member of the 1983 national championship team at NC State, held an 86-78 overall career coaching record at his alma mater, including a 25-55 mark in the ACC. Lowe never topped the 20 wins mark and never earned more than six wins in the ACC or finished above ninth place in the league.

The peerless Jody Genessy, beat writer for the Deseret News and all around awesome guy, called the police station down there and received a confirmation that Lowe was arrested.

Wow!

Derek Rowles, Executive producer at ABC11 Raleigh-Durham tweeted out Lowe's mugshot as well:

Furthermore, of course, the Jazz are not making any comments about this situation just yet. They are still trying to figure things out for themselves. I can only imagine that Jazz PR's Jonathan Reinhart did not want to have to deal with even more craziness AFTER he spent the entire weekend working down in Houston with Jazz forward Jeremy Evans. Other media members are on the case -- and I don't know who to give the full credit in reporting to. So if it was you, and I did not mention you, don't be mad. But tell me and I'll include you in this developing story.

On a personal note, it's not like he killed a guy or whatever. But it's still not the best news you want to have come out in the open. Jeff Hornacek may be pushed into a larger role if Lowe is indeed not in-state right now. I don't know. I do know that the Jazz aren't playing on March 19th, they'll be hosting the New York Knicks on the 18th, and playing against the Houston Rockets on the 20th in Houston. So Lowe will not have to miss any games for his court hearing.
