The bloggers have come out of the wood work. The Jazz are slipping out of the playoffs as we speak. Even die hard Jazz fans are losing their marbles, finding them again, only to lose them a day later. What is going on in Jazz land people? It's been along time since I have seen this kind of rabid discussion about what is wrong with this team, the coach and the front office. Everyone has an opinion these days, the coaching staff, the local media, the Jazz front office-which is in full spin mode and of course the fans who are a grumpy bunch right now. At least it's exciting in a mediocre kind of way. It could always be worse, at least we are not the......Kings. The Jazz aren't in a Laker type of dysfunction but it is dysfunction none the less and they are about to be passed in the standings by the most dysfunctional team in the NBA which only makes it worse.
I harken to an earlier time as a young lad when I first became a Jazz fan watching, observing my grandpa in the early 80's after the team first moved here. He really didn't like Frank Layden all that much then either. If he were still alive today, I think he would probably say that Frank was a good coach after all and especially after the early Sloan years. I don't ever remember hearing my grandpa ever say a bad word about anyone, he just didn't do that and he had so much respect from people in the community because of that fact. However, he was a crazy Jazz fan and it was almost comical how he would just lose it at times listening to games. I think that was the sole reason I became a fan. To watch my grandpa, who was the most reasonable man I knew at the time and probably still today, loose his marbles, get them back and then loose them again a few minutes later. I swear he was going to have a heart attack and my grandmother finally just gave up ever trying to talk some sense into him and just left him to his own misery.
I'm glad there wasn't the internet back then. Who knows if in a moment of weakness, my grandpa would have posted a fire Frank Layden comment, dropped a Dan Marley or posted some rant about how we traded Dominic Wilkins for cash even though that probably saved the franchise. I would hope not. It's easy to be critical when you aren't the one making the decisions. Heavy is the heart of those who wear the crown. So is it Tyrone Corbin? is it the players? the front office or is it just the fans? Let's try and be just as responsible/accountable as those we like to try and hold accountable with our comments. Maybe we are all just different players in the same crazy stupid game of marbles, I just hope we still have some left for next year or the year after that when this team is really good!
