Aaron Gordon could be a high lottery pick or mid-to-late first rounder. My bet is he goes in the lottery. He'a athletic, meaning he easily gets above the rim with his 6'8 height and 6'11 wingspan, is quick, has well articulated moves, including but not limited to hesitations, stutter steps, behind the back and cross over ball handling, reverse layups, and a complete repertoire of finishing moves. He also seems to have solid mechanics for perimeter shooting. He stands to be potentially a great wing and pick-up in the next draft. Here are some videos to wet your appetite.
In this clip, he exhibits his great passing abilities, assisting, and all-around ball movement skills. He sees the court well, can handle the ball anywhere on the court, dribbling while looking up, find the open guy or lead him to the ball with his passing. He also creates the open man in his penetrations, and even though most of the guys on the court are probably shorter than him, he seems to rotate well on defense, getting lots of blocks. This is not the dunk fest tape though. This one showcases more of Gordon's basketball IQ.
This next video is the athlete beast in Aaron Gordon escaping above the rim for monster put backs, alley-oops, dunks, and other ridiculous finishes. He seems to bring all the tools and could be very NBA ready after a year of competitive NCAA games, practices, and more training.
Would you be happy if Utah picked up this guy next draft and no cost to Utah's already existing assets?
