So we have have finally committed to the youth movement set in motion when a certain star was traded years ago. I think a team starting Burke Burks G Kanter and Favors has the potential to win 45 games NEXT YEAR. The catch being, they would need some semblance of a bench. You could move Burke or Burks to the bench to give you a spark with the second unit, but as of now the Jazz have absolutely no bench. With only 1 more potential FA singing, likely Tinsley
or Earl, our bench is likely to remain extremely weak.
This, imo, is DL's way of saying "i want a high lottery pick in next years draft." He isnt going to tell Corbin, or the players, to tank. Lindsey has just limited the roster by taking on the awful contracts of Richard Jefferson and Andris Biedrins rather than signing any solid FA's. As much as I miss the playoffs, I commend Lindsey for this strategy. Any GM will tell you, the last thing you want to be in the NBA is a .500 team; which is exactly what the Jazz have been the last 3 seasons. DL could have went and signed a few mid-top tier FA's and made a run at a playoff spot this season, but instead it appears he has mortgaged the season for the future. Its very early in the offseason, and its impossible to know for sure, but I do believe DL is
sort of kinda quasi stealth tanking.
Assuming the roster essentially stands as it is today, it will be the C5 against the world.
