I've long believed that the different strategy we see with DL compared to KOC has been exaggerated within fan & media narratives. I hold more to the narrative that what we're seeing now is what KOC had planned all along (even if timing was up in the air somewhat due to opportunities and contingencies.) DL is continuing and hopefully improving on what KOC has built, but it's still the same building.
Anyway, I thought KOC's interview on 1280 today was great support along these lines. And as an added bonus, KOC was really upfront and forthcoming, far more than usual and even more so than DL has been lately. Take a listen when 1280 has it posted.
Topics include: faith in the young guys, the importance of experience, what the Jazz saw in Trey Burke, what they saw in JLIII, how quickly they decided that they made a mistake in initially evaluating Ian Clark, etc. (Wish 1280 had asked more about the rationale of the trade with the Warriors when KOC was speaking so forthrightly about grand strategy.)
