Saying Goodbye to the 2012-2013 Utah Jazz

With this year in free agency quickly closing I thought it would be appropriate to say a goodbye to the 2012-2013 Utah Jazz. Some things I happily say goodbye too and others it is very bitter sweet, but basketball at this level is a business and the only thing constant in business is change. Who better to help us in talking about a break up than Taylor Swift.

First off- Goodbye to Big Al.

I for one will really miss Big Al. I won't miss the divide that he apparently caused with the fans. I won't miss his perimeter defense. I won't miss blog posts that point out all of his flaws that at the same time discredit his strengths. I will miss him though. A guy that in a must win game was going to give his all. A guy that plays big in the biggest moments. Wheather it was pouring in 40 in a must win game, or getting the only 25-25 game in Jazz history, (but according to some it didn't matter because he didn't shoot any FTs.) or having the highest FG% in the league in the clutch. Al could rise to the moment and I will miss him for that. Even this last year with a must win Memphis game. Al looked to be playing 1 on 5. (insert joke about Al's passing here.) He also was the best interview and funniest guy on the team. From the "Who Bill?" story to starting every interview by telling Jody that he wouldn't take any questions from him. Al was fun.

Taylor Swift song for Big Al to the bloggers at SLC Dunk-

You have pointed out my flaws again

As if I don't already see them
I walk with my head down
Trying to block you out 'cause I'll never impress you
I just wanna feel okay again

I bet you got pushed around
Somebody made you cold
But the cycle ends right now
'Cause you can't lead me down that road
And you don't know, what you don't know...

Someday I'll be living in a big ol' city
And all you're ever gonna be is mean
Someday I'll be big enough so you can't hit me
And all you're ever gonna be is mean
Why you gotta be so mean?

Mo And Raja:

Gone are the guys that I loved in their first stints hear and didn't like so much in their second stints. I still need to thank Mo for the GS and Spurs wins when his hero ball worked. But as a whole to these to I guess the lesson is that it is better to have loved and lost, than to be lost trying to love that which can't be loved.

Taylor Swift Song from the bloggers at SLCDunk to Mo and Raja-

"We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together"

I'm really gonna miss you picking fights
And me falling for it screaming that I'm right
And you would hide away and find your peace of mind
With some indie record that's much cooler than mine

Ooh, you called me up again tonight
But ooh, this time I'm telling you, I'm telling you

We are never, ever, ever getting back together
We are never, ever, ever getting back together
You go talk to your friends, talk to my friends, talk to me (talk to me)
But we are never ever ever ever getting back together

****Had Josh Howard been on the team this year he would have got this song- "i knew you were trouble."****

Was actually solid for the Jazz at the offensive end. Most fans were frustrated that he took Hayward's spot in the starting lineup, but truthfully he was solid and the move helped Hayward out of his early season funk. Foye may have been overmatched as a starting 2 guard, but he was able to catch fire in a few games and swing stretches for the Jazz. He set the single season record for most 3's and did it knocking down 41% of them. His ability to stretch the floor and go on personal 12-0 runs will be missed.

Taylor Swift song describing where Foye always was on the floor-

You saw me there, but never knew
I would give it all up to be
A part of this, a part of you
And now it's all too late so you see
You could've helped if you had wanted to
But no one notices until it's too
Late to do anything

So how can I ever try to be better?

Nobody ever lets me in
I can still see you, this ain't the best view
On the outside looking in

Earl and Jamaal

I really want to thank these 2 for just being great dudes. Earl was always fighting and doing whatever he physically could do (and a few things he physically couldn't do) to help the team. Oh and the back door Early-oops. Those will be missed.

Jamaal kept the team afloat while Mo was out and even though we were often playing 4 on 5 with him on the offensive end he still found ways to help us win games. I'm glad he was able to resurrect his image here and even gladder that was able to show a few street ball moves that caused Boler to not even be able to get out the whole Houdini and just going with Dini.

Those moments with those 2 running the offense with the young guys and throwing Ally (Early)- oops to Jeremy will always be ours.

Taylor Swift Song to our back up PG's-

'Cause I love the gap between your teeth
And I love the riddles that you speak
And any snide remarks from my father about your tattoos will be ignored
'Cause my heart is yours

So don't you worry your pretty little mind
People throw rocks at things that shine
And life makes love look hard
Don't you worry your pretty little mind
People throw rocks at things that shine
But they can't take what's ours
They can't take what's ours

I loved the way DeMarre played. The one guy that shocked me the most that we let go was DeMarre. He wasn't the most talented guy, but you never left a game thinking I wish we could have got more out of DeMarre tonight. The Junkyard dog was always on the loose and next years lineup will surely miss his tenacity.

Taylor Swift Colbie Caillet ( I cheated) song for DeMarre-

"I Miss Everything about You."

And now I miss everything about you
I can't believe it, I still want you
After all the things we've been through
I miss everything about you

I will also truly miss Jeff who is my all time favorite player and the 3rd best Jazzman in team history (if you don't believe that I will fight you). I was a fan of Jeff since his Suns days and always wanted the Jazz to get him. When they got him it felt like a fairy tale to me.

Taylor Swift Song from me to Jeff-

"Love Story"

We were both young when I first saw you.
I close my eyes and the flashback starts:
I'm standing there on a balcony in summer air.

See the lights, see the party, the ball games.
See you make your way through the crowd
And say, "Hello,"
Little did I know...

Paul will forever be a Jazzman to me. We watched him grow up. He worked as hard as any player I ever remember. He got better at everything. He was an undersized power forward with an oversized heart. The Miracle in Miami, will forever go down in Jazz lore. I will miss Paul most of all.

Taylor Swift Song from me to Paul-

"Teardrops On My Guitar"

He's the reason for the teardrops on my guitar
The only thing that keeps me wishing on a wishing star
He's the song in the car I keep singing, don't know why I do

The one thing I really won't miss is the Core 4 nickname. There is only 1 team I dislike as much as the LA Lakers and it is the New York Yankees. So stealing a nickname from them is simply awful to me. I hate stealing nicknames anyway (Boler I'm looking at your for Mr. Big Shot.) but from the Yankees is like writing a novel about a kid named Tom Sawyer. However I am glad that the Yankee Farm team members will be back next year with a 5th guy to add to the core. ( It will be funny when someone starts calling them the Fab-5 with the 5th guy being from Michigan) I am truly excited for these guys to get a chance to show what they've got.

Taylor Swift Song to the Yankee Farm Team 4 and Fab 1-

We're happy, free, confused, and lonely at the same time
It's miserable and magical.
Oh, yeah
Tonight's the night when we forget about the deadlines
It's time

Uh oh!
I don't know about you
But I'm feeling 22
Everything will be alright
If you keep me next to you
You don't know about me
But I'll bet you want to
Everything will be alright
If we just keep dancing like we're
22, ooh-ooh
22, ooh-ooh
