I'm working on a fanpost that's somewhat stat heavy, but need some input. What is your favorite all-in-one stat for comparing players? Some of the stats I'm looking at are below with a brief explanation:
PER: Compares the player to league average. It's normalized every year so 15.0 is always average. Isn't great at measuring defense, but is arguably the most used advanced stat. Click here to see a more detailed explanation.
WS/48: Estimates how many wins a player is responsible for per 48 minutes. It's somewhat normalized every year so that league average is always about 0.100. Click here to see a more detailed explanation.
Net Rating (ORTG - DRTG): Fairly simple. Offensive rating is points scored by the player's team per 100 possessions while the player is on the floor. Defensive rating is how many points the opponent scores per 100 possessions while the player is on the floor. Net Rating is the difference between the two.
If you have a different stat for me to look at please let me know in the comments (it would also help if you included a link to where the stat can be found).
